Cox Nominated for Judge by Milford Republicans

The Fifth Judicial District GOP convention at Milford nominated Leroy H. Cox for judge after a lengthy ballot process. Albert L. Larson was chosen for District Attorney, with W. B. Higgins and George H. Lunt also receiving support before Larson prevailed on the later ballots. The convention also elected a judicial committee and heard a keynote from W. E. Kelley of Salt Lake City.

Fire at School House Sparks Alarm and Narrow Escape

Warning on Whooping Cough Closes Show House for Children

Dr. F J Burton city health officer warns of several whooping cough cases on the West Side and exposure risk. The show house is closed to children under ten, with possible no Sunday school or primary next weekend. Parents urged to keep children from crowds and contact Dr Burton for free diagnosis. Rambouillet Show preparations proceed for August 16 to 18 at the Rambouillet barn with dairy cattle and horse classes added and premiums announced.

Farowan Girl Marries Ogden Boy

Deseret News reports Miss Trene Mortensen of Far mington and Walter L. Higtey of Ogden obtained a marriage license during the week. The couple, who became acquainted while Mortensen was 72 years old in Ogden, were wed after his arrival last Sunday evening. The bride is the daughter of Mrs Mar Etterita Mortensen.

Dairy Company Elects Officers for Year

At the second annual meeting of the Southern Utah Dairy Co. Samuel Abbott Paragonah Oscar M. Lyman and W Clair Rowley were elected to the board joining A Adams and T Amenzo Tenham. Abbott and Rowley have served on the board since formation Abbott acting president and Rowley secretary treasurer. Lyman replaces John Pendleton who was absent. The gathering heard annual operations reports and dairy talks from Arthur Morris and Dr G Wiltser praising the local plant. A dairy lunch followed with exhibits of dairy cattle at the plant and Paragonah. First Jersey prize went to F P A Clark. Rowley’s cow took third. horstery and grade class winners not learned.

County Tax Levy Fixed for Year by County Board

The Board of County Commissioners fixed the 1928 tax levy for County State and School purposes at 23 mills, the same total as last year despite a 2.1 mill rise in school levy. To offset the school increase they trimmed the county levy to a “quick” level in several areas. A comparison of levies by purpose for this year and last is provided.
