Civic Clubs Back Vernal Road and Park Plans Meeting
The Civic Clubs of Southern and Eastern Utah met in Vernal with about 100 attendees including Forest Service, Fish and Game and Utah Mining Association reps. Royal T. Harvard presided. They endorsed a loop road from Dinosaur National Monument to Eeho Park and Split Mountain and supported roads to the Glen Canyon Damsite from the Utah side. A saw timber road from Fredonia to Hurricane and a survey of Hiway 33 through Indian Canyon were ordered. Legislative work was authorized for recreation and campground improvements on national forests, and Mission 66 progress was reported with 16 million dollars authorized for Utah parks over eight years starting July 1, 1956. The club also urged a similar “mission 66” program.

Funeral Services Held For Mrs J T Rasmussen
Funeral services for Anna Louisa Mortensen Rasmussen were held in Parowan with H Le Roy Adams conducting. Burial followed in Parowan Cemetery. Survivors include husband John T Rasmussen and several children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Concrete Ditch Completed In North Fields
A cement lined ditch the first in Parowan Valley was finished Wednesday afternoon. East stream in the north field was poured by farmers with Soil Conservation Service help led by Henry Grimshaw of Enoch. Water measurements by Lee Carlson showed a 27 percent water loss between upper and lower flumes, about 76 gallons per minute, during a two hour test.

Gunshot Wound Fatal To Paragonah Lady
Funeral services were held in the Paragonah Ward Chapel for Aneeta Barton McBride 61 who died from an accidental gunshot wound at her home. The 22 caliber rifle discharged while she moved it, striking her chin and head. she died at Iron County Hospital four hours later. Surviving are her husband A Roy McBride and 18 others including Barbara McBride Helen Barton Doris McBride Lois Orton and Thelma Thexton. She was born December 29 1894 in Paragonah and married in 1914 with endowments in the St George Temple in 1916.

Mrs. Belle C. Pendleton Jakeman McEwan, 63, of Salt Lake City, died April 18 after a lingering illness. Born October 15, 1892 in Parowan, she was married twice and survived by sons Mark Jakeman Lloyd Jakeman Robert Jakeman and daughters Georgia Smith Betty Reeve and Annete Zarkof. Burial was in Salt Lake City Cemetery with all siblings attending.
