East Ward Carnival Nets Sizable Sum Despite Poor Weather
The East Ward carnival closed Saturday night with about 306 dollars net. Poor weather and tight finances cut potential takings though the three day event still pleased organizers and participants. The committee and workers deserve credit for a successful affair despite conditions.

Death brings relief to Mrs Matheson after long illness
Mrs Susan Gurr Matheson died yesterday noon at the Simon A Matheson home after a ten year battle with cancer. Her devoted husband Frank and family endured great sorrow as doctors and relatives did all possible to ease her pain. She leaves husband, son Frank, six daughters Maude Alice Clara Florence Par a Barbara, two brothers and sisters, several grandchildren and many relatives. Funeral plans will be announced Friday to allow traveling family members to attend. The Times extends heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved.

Obituary of early community resident George Heap
George Heap born March 14 1850 in Council Bluffs Iowa son of Wm Ward Heap and Mary Ward Heap lived as an early community member with a life of moves between Parowan Utah and Idaho. He married Louisa Hollingshead in 1876 and had ten children forty five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He died with a large surviving family including two daughters four sons five sisters four brothers thirty eight grandchildren and a great grandchild. He was attended by relatives from Holden Kingston Coyote and Arizona and a niece traveling with friends could not attend.
