U. P. Man Urges Diversification in Agriculture

W. J. Martin Union Pacific Assistant Agriculture Supervisor told Parowan and Cedar City Chamber members that diversification helps farmers and communities, urging expansion of dairying and other sectors. He discussed dairy marketing, glass lined milk cars to Los Angeles, and the need for a County Agent. He cited the company’s support for education and vocational training, and noted no over production.

Daughters Honor Mother Who Left This Week

Mrs J A Paramore and her sister Miss Peggy Timmona hosted a Thursday afternoon gathering from two to four o'clock honoring their mother Mrs J D Timmong who departed with her husband for Indiana. Dozens of relatives and friends attended including Mrs L N Marsden Mrs Charles B D Adams and many others. A pleasant time was reported by attendees.

County Commissioners Decide On Various Minor Matters

At the April meeting the board authorized notifying the State Road Commissioner to secure rights of way by April 11 for Federal Aid Project 55 B from Kanarra to the Washington County line. They reviewed hospital debt, property rent, right of way settlements, and numerous individual aid applications while approving claims and continued allowances.

Big Auction Sale Links Parowan Ward Carnival

The Parowan East Ward Carnival features a Friday auction from six to eight p m at the lot between George Rassmunsen’s home and the Geanne Beauty Shop with P A Clark as auctioneer. Proceeds aid ward maintenance and improvements. Donations are welcome Friday 2 to 6 p m. West Warders are invited to attend and buy. The event caps with a theatre production Dear Me at the Opera House, then a Boy Scouts Indian Pageant and carnival dance Saturday night.

George Heap Dies After Illness at 77 in Parowan

Brimhall to Address Parowan High Graduation

Dr. George H. Brimhall emeritus president of Brigham Young University will speak at Parowan High School graduation. Principal Pymm confirms Brimhall accepted the invitation. Exercises set for Thursday May 5 at 8 PM in the Tabernacle with the program to be announced next week.

P H S Play Earns High Praise for Production

Last night the P. H. S. students presented Phillip Barry's The Youngest to a strong crowd. Ada Boardmate led the cast with Bronson and Adrian Adams receiving special mention. Miss Carbine directed the show which impressed audiences in town and in St George last Saturday. Mrs Frankie Dalley Cootes and Mrs Sadie Pritchard McMullen visited briefly from Salt Lake City and Payson.

Easter Cantata From Cross to Crown Presented Sunday Night

The West ward choir stages Easter cantata From Cross to Crown on Sunday evening April 17. The program features solos by Mary Orton and Anna Carbine, with Saloisis and S. Burton among the vocalists, and orchestral pieces by Morris, Taylor, Johngson, Topham, Morris, and Mernia. Directed by Will T. Morris, the two part work spans The Palms through The Man of Sorrows and ends with a full chorus finale. attendees are invited to contribute to the ward Maintenance fund if satisfied with the performance and cause.

Parent Teachers to Meet Next Tuesday

The Parent Teachers Association will hold its last regular meeting of the season next Tuesday evening. Mr. John Wy. Bentley of the Board of Education will discuss changes in County taxation as the main program. Three musical numbers are scheduled: a solo by Mr. Sprout, a Mia Frank and Mrs. Morris Lyman duet, and a piano solo by Miss Zona Pendleton.
