Gravel Days Demonstrate Civic Pride and Progress
Citizens and their teams hauled gravel on Wednesday Thursday and Saturday in large numbers, improving Parowan to Lund roads and surrounding streets. The event showcased community spirit with capped roads from the West City to Main Street and a graded cemetery road, followed by a celebratory school auditorium dance and a Home Bureau fundraiser for the playground. Mr Gay of the Desert News toured with locals to view canyon scenery and road plans, while the F A N Club prepares an alumni banquet for next Saturday evening.

Elizabeth Hendrickson Laid To Rest After Illness
Mrs. Elizabeth Hendrickson died at the family home after a paralytic stroke on April 3. Born September 4, 1837 in Ray county Missouri she moved to Utah with her parents and lived near Brigham City Parowan and finally settled in Dixie country. She is survived by husband Hyrum A Hendrickson and four children Elizabeth Adeline Johnson Syram M Hendrickson Horace Byron Hendrickson and Catherine Rosett Winn plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the chapel at 4 PM with invocation by Charles Adams benediction by John W Bently and speakers Alexander Matheson Walter C Mitchell Morgan Richard and David Matheson. Music by the choir featuring Ada McGregor. Attendance noted as strong amid sisters away from home.

Miss Page Returns Home as Socials Mark Week
Miss Page, who cared for Mr. Ryan, returned to Salt Lake last Tuesday. The B A C junior class held a Ward Hall beater last Friday with a talented, entertaining show. Melody Five orchestra from Salt Lake danced at Ward Hall Saturday, returning Tuesday. Arbor Day program included tree planting and a children’s dance in the public school. Mrs Beth Leigh plans to Kanab to stay with her parents while her husband completes a mission. Others hosted card parties and a prize was won by Miss Mar Giles. Mr Rountree Hunter left on a mission. Mrs Mary Gower returned from Quincy Junction with her daughter Mrs N Lowan. Citizens donated tin for gravel hauling and road work on the caffon road.
