Parowan High Senior Hop Plans Serenade Night

Parowan High seniors host the annual hop Friday evening in the high school gym with a Blue Serenade theme. Eben Davenport leads the featured floor show and a quartet will sing during the event. Leadership includes Sener Clits as president and Nels Bayle heading general arrangements with Orland Evans, Jack Mitchell, Marlene Mickvit, Jajean Hent, and Eben Davenport assisting. The advertising and dance programs are led by Lu Youran Guymon with committee members Lori Berwon Jonna Dean Clark Firen Clark Joan Adams LaVerna Marlene and Lajean assisting. Music by The Music Makers orchestra for a semi formal dance plus a senior program for the assembly.

Primary Association Sends $319.25 for Hospital Support

A letter to Stake President W Clair Howley from the General Board of the Primary Association notes the ward and stake Primary workers, teachers, and children raised 319.25 through birth permits and a house-to-house canvass for the Primary Children’s Hospital. Twelve years ago Utah topped silver output while ranking high in copper and lead. Now twenty years later Utah is second in copper, third in lead, seventh in zinc, and third in gold with gold rising from fifth to third. Herbert S Hyatt Prominent Resident Dies At Home Here

Parowan Utah records a long serving resident Herbert S Hyatt dies at home after a long life as pioneer farmer, judge of the peace, and church elder. He married Lucy Gunn in 1882 and celebrated 67 years together. Survived by widow, ten children, sister Nellie Taylor, forty five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services set Saturday at 2 pm in the Weel Ward Chapel with burial in City Cemetery under Mortuary direction. Hyatt helped settle Panguitah, later operated a shingle mill, and farmed north Parowan for over twenty five years.

Burial Rites Held for Pfc Arthur Peterson Parowan Cemetery

Military graveside services were held at Parowan City Cemetery for Pfc. Arthur Peterson who died returning from Okinawa May 25 1945. The ceremony included a gospel song sung by four voices, prayers, a short address, a rifle salute by Legion members and taps. Color guard and pallbearers were local veterans. Family from Las Vegas Cedar City Provo and Long Beach attended along with many others.
