Ventura amputee skis to summit as first graduate
Eldon Bentley a 20 year old Ventura college student becomes the first graduate of an amputee ski school at Snow Summit near Big Bear. He lost a leg at two and a half in Parowan birthplace. Under instructor Bob Engelsen he learned crutch skis and regular ski use. Bentley studies machine shop and metalurgy, works nights as an apprentice machinist at Ventura Tool Company. He travels Friday nights to Snow Summit and returns Sunday. He plans to be a ski instructor for crippled children after college and pursue it as a career. He is also an expert roller skater and swimmer.

Indian Iron County Hospital welcomed a trio of girls born March 25 to N Merton and Kathrvni Mitchell weighing six pounds in a twin-filled family with grandparents Mr and Mrs W Scott Mitchell and Mrs Georgia Mitchell of Parowan. Max Dalley welcomed a son weighing eight pounds 12 ounces on March 26 with grandparents Mr and Mrs John W Bentley of Parowan and Mr John NM Dalley Summit. Leslie W Warren, seven pounds five ounces, arrived March 1 at Tron County Hospital, with paternal grandmother Mrs Wilford Cartwright of Reaver and great grandparents Mrs Etta Aver and Mrs Huntington Parowen. The Warrens visited the baby and new parents.

Parowan Man Injured In Highway Crash At Dixie
Donald Mitchell twenty four of Parowan was hospitalized at Dixie Pioneer Memorial Hospital in St George after a car he rode as a passenger left a sharp curve and plunged into a 30 foot wash ten miles southwest of St George. He suffered lacerations bruises and shock. Also injured were Mrs Louise Grant twenty five of Cedar City who had shock and facial fractures and Mr George Pallas Grant who escaped injury. The vehicle skidded along the road shoulder and was thrown from the car. Mitchell and Mrs Grong were said to have been thrown from the right door. highway patrolman L A Porter investigated the crash.

DeMille Returns Home After 13 Months in Japan Army
Curdlll DeMille son of Mr and Mrs Alvin DeMille has returned home after 13 months in Japan with the US Army. He has been released from active duty and plans to pursue radio and television work. While in Japan he took about 200 photographs of points of interest and gathered souvenirs. He attended the Japan branch of the LD Church weekly and helped organize LD servicemen at Camp Young. In early January he attended the Sendai District Conference.

Parowan Coach Twists Resigns After Banquet Ceremony
Coach William Twist Jones tendered his resignation at a school banquet in Parowan marking the end of his era with the Hesketul club and Parowan High School.
