James L Dunford longtime Paris leader dies after illness
James Lehi Dunford former Paris mayor dies at home after a nine month illness. Born January 21, 1866 in Bloomington Idaho he taught in several towns and served as deputy game warden and game warden in Idaho. He married Eliza Jacobson in 1888 and left nine children, 27 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Paris Second Ward Chapel with multiple speakers and singing. burial next to his wife in Bloomington Cemetery.

Mrs. Ruth Stock of Fish Haven won the Utah Power and Light Food for Victory contest for her story on repurposing an old wringer and mobile motor into a pea shelter for home church and welfare canning. She receives a $50 war bond and will be honored at a Preston dinner Sept 22 with agricultural leaders and company officials attending. Mrs Stock is a 4 H club leader and active in local church and community roles. her husband DeVere Stock serves in the Bear Lake Valley Dairymen’s Cooperative and Elders Quorum leadership.

Motorists See No Gas Ration Increase Soon
The Office of Price Administration says civilian motorists should expect no rise in gasoline ration for several months, at least until the war with Germany ends. Civilian stocks built up last winter have fallen, despite higher imports and record domestic production, with civilian gasoline stocks down about two million barrels in 30 days.
