Dingle Man Killed in Freak Farm Accident Saturday
Loran T. Dayton 46 of Dingle died in a freak farm mishap near Dingle on the Quayle Ranch while guiding two horses. Witness Dean Sparks said a halter rope caused the animals to jump, flinging Dayton and causing a fatal head injury. He was a WWII veteran and Purple Heart recipient. funeral held at the Dingle LDS Chapel with burial in Dingle Cemetery.

Charley Thompson of Smith Center Kan. drove the truck when blinded by oncoming lights struck a cow owned by Lyle Stephens. The cow died. no injuries to the driver or passenger. damage not estimated.

Burglar Receives Suspended Sentence in Idaho Case
Stephen Hull, held on a burglary charge in Bear Lake County jail, appeared before District Judge Francis J. Rasmussen and was sentenced to 14 years in the Idaho Penitentiary. The execution was suspended and Hull placed on a 3 year parole with a $75 monthly payment to Bear Lake County for hospital and medical expenses.

4 H Scholarships To Be Offered For Home Economics Majors
Six national scholarships of 800 dollars each will be awarded this fall to 4 H girls planning to major in home economics. Chas Thomas acting Idaho State 4 H Club leader announced. Bear Lake Junior High Welcomes Native American Students and 1968 Football Team
Ten American Indian students from Oak School No. 12, Cannon Ball, North Dakota, attend Bear Lake Junior High with guardians listed. The 1968 Junior High football team consists of ninth graders only, coached by Richard Aland, with a 56 member athletic group plus seventh and eighth grade basketball. A full schedule runs from Sept. 19 to Oct. 31, and a matinee dance is planned for Friday with Ricky Woolstenhulme as DJ.
