School Elections Draw Many Voters to Polls

Fielding High School voters set a record with 360 ballots cast for two three year board seats. Incumbents Dr. Spencer H. Rich and Arch C. Shepherd were reelected. Unofficial tallies across precincts show Rich and Shepherd leading, with Budge and Wallentine also earning support. Emerson Grade school re elected Clem Mumpherys and Hugh Shepherd for three years.

Smith Family Reunion Held Sept 5 at Paris Park

Sixty four descendants of the late Mr and Mrs W G Smith gathered at Paris Park on September 5 for a reunion with a picnic lunch and a program at the amphitheatre. Ice cream was served and the event was organized by Grace Werricott Leda Bradley and Evelyn Stucki. Mrs Thelma Michael entertained her club Wednesday of last week.

Emigration Canyon Road Project Advances Rapidly

Improvement of the Strawberry-Sharon road through Emigration canyon in the forest reserve is progressing rapidly with crews busy from Bear Lake and Franklin counties. The 13 mile canyon road will grade and gravel and connect with the Mink Creek road, with plans to eventually grade the entire forest strip for local residents.

Fred Stevens to Serve on Mission in South America

Fred Stevens will be honored at a missionary farewell dance in the pavilion Friday evening. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Rayford Stevens and attended BYU last year. On Sept 12 he leaves for the Mission Home in Salt Lake for training before going to Argentina for his mission.

Outstanding Grandstand Show Foreseen at Blackfoot Fair

The Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot runs September 13 to 17 with a new outdoor grandstand show featuring ballet acrobatics and illuminated scenic settings. Beginning Tuesday September 18 at 7 30 p m five nights of performances will showcase revised acts and special musical scores arranged by Barnes Carruthers Theatrical Enterprises of Chicago which has long brought popular grand stand shows to the fair.

Rules to be Observed by Pupils Riding School Buses

School bus rules issued by Sup t Ralph Roghaar require punctual arrival and no waiting for tardy students. Prohibited conduct includes unnecessary talk with the driver, improper language, and damage reporting. Emerson Grade School reports its largest enrollment in years totaling 235 pupils. First through eighth grades are listed with varied counts and October 1 start for the hot lunch program announced by Superintendent Ralph Roghaar. Grace Youth Wins Utah Power and Light Engineering Scholarship

Twenty Lions met at the Hotel Paris for the monthly meeting. President Glen Grimmett said directors voted to donate 50 toward the canyon party for touring livestock men. About 1500 visitors during summer. after expenses nearly 100 remains for cave project use. A fine dinner followed.

The Paria 1st ward Sunday School held its centennial celebration on Aug. 27 from 2 to 5 at Paris Park.
