Tendoy Scout Council Group Meeting in Lava
On August 23 Charles Piggott joined President W. K. Matthews in Lava to attend a steak fry hosted by the Tendoy Council. District chairmen met to plan a fundraising drive. Charles led the flag salute and distributed Scout sign bridges during the program. He later presented a plaque to Central Farmers Corporation for its top contribution to the Tendoy Council last year.

Fire destroys hay at Wallentine Ranch north of Paria
A large stack of baled hay at L. O. Wallentine dairy barn on Highway 89 was destroyed Thursday evening by a fire believed to start from a bale conveyor motor exhaust. Help arrived after flames had consumed the entire stack. smoldering remaining hay was spread Saturday morning to prevent rekindling.
