Track laying started on the nine and one half mile line from Union Pacific tracks at Georgetown station to the Central Farmers Fertilizer plant site. B H Samuel & Sona of Portland win the contract for railroad construction. Assett Construction of Twin Falls handles gravel crushing and ballasting. Union Pacific built a 2100 foot siding to connect to the spur. Jacobsen Construction is general contractor for plant work and aims to finish concrete foundations this fall. A temporary office is at the plant site and officials expect to move from Montpelier once services are available. A telephone line and power supply are nearing completion for temporary transformers.

Louisa Grimmett Hospitalized After Paris Fall
Mrs Louisa Grimmett, nearly 91, suffered a broken hip in a fall at her Paris home last Friday. She underwent hip surgery in Salt Lake City and is recovering with plans to use a wheelchair soon. Her daughter Mrs Mabel Howell stays with her. husband O H Grimmett and another spouse accompanied her to Salt Lake City and returned to Paris.

Oil Survey Starts in Bear Lake Area by Tulsa Company
A Tulsa Oklahoma petroleum firm began an oil survey in the Bear Lake Basin with a 20 man crew led by C T Rankin and assistant George Barnes. Offices are at Montpelier and a portable rotary drill, 12 trucks and recording gear are ready for field work. Duration of the survey is not known.

Towns Along Hiway 30N Bid For National Designation
Chambers of Commerce across eastern Idaho and western Wyoming plan meetings in McCammon Lava Hot Springs Grace Soda Springs Montpelier and Kemmerer to push designating the U S 30N stretch east of Pocatello as part of the national interstate network. Alvin H Reading of the Pocatello Chamber will set up the meetings to secure the designation.
Federal Aid Road Nears Completion in Rich County Area
Blaine J. Kay district engineer for the State Road Commission of Utah announced 10.28 miles of Federal Aid Secondary highway near completion in Rich county. The 24 foot road with bituminous surface known as the Laketown Round Valley Loop and Meadowville Junction Meadowville will serve communities and visiting sportsmen. W. W. Marsden is the resident engineer and LaGrand Johnson Construction Co. handles the work.

David L. Harmon of St Charles was injured when he fell from a ladder on a building project. A broken rib and heavy bruising were found on X rays and he was in shock. He spent 48 hours in hospital and is now recovering per his wife Anita Hairup Harmon.

Forest Ranger Transfer Moves Levy to Vernal District
Ranger Thomas H. Levy, a Utah State University forestry graduate, is transferred from Cache National Forest Preston District to Ashley National Forest Vernal District in Utah effective September. Funeral services for David T. Thornock 63 who died August 30 1957 at Salt Lake Veterans hospital were conducted at the Paris First Ward chapel with Bishop Morris B Athay officiating. Interment followed in Bloomington cemetery. Thornock born March 25 1894 in Bloomington was survived by his widow Sarah Quinton seven children fourteen grandchildren and one sister Jenevieve Kinsell. He served in World War I.
