Funeral Services for A. E. Thiel Held Wednesday
Masonic services for Albert E. Thiel 76 Montpelier hardware businessman and civic leader were held at the Montpelier tabernacle on Wednesday October 29 following his death October 27 in Bear Lake hospital after months of illness. Thiel born February 22 1882 Malta Illinois came to Montpelier in 1902 and built Thiel Olsen hardware empire. Miss Carol Miles of Montpelier wed Hulme Matthews of Liberty in a double ring ceremony at the Logan temple on October 24. Officiating were President and George Raymond, an uncle of the bride. The bride is the daughter of Mrs Harold Miles and a Montpelier High School graduate. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs Alonzo H Matthews of Liberty. A wedding breakfast followed for 175 guests at a lodge in Logan canyon and a reception in the L D S seminary the same evening. The couple plans to reside in Montpelier after a Northwest honeymoon.

Driver cited after crash kills twenty five sheep
Twenty five head of sheep were killed or damaged beyond repair when a car ran past a flagman and struck a band of sheep on Highway 380 N one mile north of Montpelier on Friday October 24. Sheriff O E Monson cited Carl Nelson of Pocatello for improper vehicle control. Nelson to appear before Judge Leeright in Montpelier justice court. Owner Harley Cochran of Pegram put the loss at 7650 dollars.

Bear Lake U S Office Announces New Montpelier Hours
The Bear Lake County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation committee announces new office hours for the Montpelier office at 843 Washington Street. Effective immediately the office will be open Monday Wednesday and Friday 8 to 12 and 1 to 5. Tuesday and Thursday 9 to 12 and 1 to 5, according to county chairman Harley Cochran.
Vote registration deadline before Bear Lake general election
Prospective voters in Bear Lake county must register by Saturday November 1 at 9 p m to be eligible to vote in the November 4 general election. Requirements include U S citizenship age 21 Idaho residency six months Bear Lake county residency 20 days and precinct registrar enrollment. The list shows precinct by precinct polling places and election judges.

Four teenage Salt Lake youths abducted to Idaho Falls after burglarizing the Clark U Save in Montpelier. They stole 19 boxes of .22 calibre ammunition and damaged the door glass, then returned the car to a father and headed to Salt Lake where authorities pursued charges.

James K. Stallworth of Salt Lake City now at a Georgetown phosphate plant was hospitalized in Montpelier after a crash on a Liberty ranch road.
