Five Sheep Die On Highway Hit By Auto
Five sheep owned by John 80R were killed on the highway between St Charles and Bloomington around 6:99 Sunday evening when struck by an automobile driven by C. C. Broxon of Paris. The driver attempted to pull to the side as the flock crossed, causing damage to the car including a broken headlight and dented fender.

The Paris TV Cooperative held its annual meeting at the Teen Center. Members elected William Jensen James R Hawkes Arch Vallen tine Ralph Rich and Raymond Webb to the board for the coming year. The group discussed joining with other TV cooperatives and purchasing aid for a better signal. a decision on subscribing to Laketown TV Association was postponed to the president and board.

St. Charles Grass Fires Controlled by Neighbors
Two grass fires in St. Charles Sunday afternoon and evening threatened the area before residents fought them with shovels and water. One blaze extended from Red's Service Station along the borrow pit to the old post office. the other burned along the Emma Pugmire property fence line where ashes had been dumped. Neighbors quickly contained both fires using dirt and a hose from Booth's corral hydrant.

Bear Lake county 4-H clubs held their annual achievement night October 22 at Montpelier High School. Glen Hymas presided. Susan Perkins and Diane Langford led pledges. County commissioners Dunford and Carlson attended along with new county agent Hyrum Johnson. Awards from the Bear Lake County Fair included Beef Quality Grand Champion Steven Teichert earning $10, and Reserve Champion Vicky Jenson with $5 from Thiel & Olsen.

Walter Henry Tippetts 72 died after several months illness. Born June 12 1886 in Perry Utah he moved to Georgetown in 1900. Survivors include Myrtle Larson widow sons Ellis Verl Harold and others, 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Interment in Georgetown Cemetery.

Preston Indians Defeat Montpelier For Fifth District Title
The Preston Indians beat the Montpelier Bears 18 to 6 at Montpelier to win the Fifth District Double A Class championship. Preston totaled 189 yards to 103, scoring in the second and third quarters while Montpelier’s lone touchdown came in the fourth. Preston finished 5 2 2, Montpelier 4 3 2 in conference play.
