An Indiana report recounts two hunting mishaps. Nelson, 16, Bloomington, was wounded by a rifle bullet that entered below the shoulder but spared bone or ribs. Paris youth Jimmy, 11, suffered a right forefinger wound when his gun discharged as he fumbled the barrel end joint.
Four students from Paris hing territory represent Ovid at Ricks College Jaussi DeLane Beck Rosa Johnson and Lucille Matthews. Beck is majoring in language arts Johnson humanities sophomore Lucille Matthews daughter of Mr and Mrs Matthews is a sophomore. About 462 students attend Ricks College this year.
Disjointed notes show MIA results and open events at Fielding and Melding High Schools. Paring entries include Paris 1st 2nd MIA, speakers and operetta likely, and Lions Club/Relief Society activity. Stake and ward references suggest community pageant and polio drive in Lake and Paris areas.
Idaho hunters begin upland season at noon October 28 with a statewide bag limit of two cock pheasants. District 5 counties open October 28 through November 5, with others opening in southwestern and south central zones. Quail and Hungarian partridge have varying regional dates, but no hen pheasant season exists and transporting birds out of state requires a legal license.
Scout leaders and commissioners from Idaho districts including Shannock Bear Lake Montpelier and Star Valley will attend the Semi Annual Explorer Leaders Conference in Montpelier on Saturday October 28 at 3 30 pm in City Hall. The two hour session covers eligibility rules new marksmanship program and multiple sports plus emergency service with dinner at 5 30 and an evening session to 9 00.
Emerson PTA held a regular meeting with Marguerite Passey presiding. Prayers, singing, and door prizes opened the program. Letha Madsen read minutes and roll call. Standley Rich and partner presented slides and a travel talk on Old Mexico. Punch and cookies closed the event.
Fur trappers in eastern Idaho district 5 begin at noon November 1 trapping otter fox marten and muskrat with most seasons running to December 15 except muskrat some extend to spring. Beaver mink fisher have no open season this year. Bear Lake and other counties set varied muskrat dates into April with some segments in March. Trapping rules require licenses reports trap registration and no trap larger than No 13 for muskrat.
Fielding High School suffered a 12 to 26 loss to Montpelier in the homecoming clash as the Spartans fought hard in the first half. Fielding's Bob Day and Gary Michaelson connected on key plays while Garth Carlson and Darrell Sorenson fueled the effort. Emerson School and FHS Pep Club tied for first in parade float judging.
Mrs Jennie Rich Allred Rasmussen formerly of St Charles died Tuesday in a Kemmerer Wyoming hospital after a long illness. Born June 3, 1900 in St Charles she married Marvin Rasmussen in Salt Lake Temple in 1928 and had two sons Dean and Arlo. Survivors include her parents two sisters three brothers and several extended relatives.
Idaho game officials announce no open season for hens this year due to poor hatch and high hen mortality. Daily bag limits lowered as the state seeks to boost spring hatch by protecting hens. Hunters warned not to remove feathers that identify sex or species.
The Southwestern Wyoming Hereford Association will hold its annual sale in Kemmerer on November 1 and 2. Top western breeders consign cattle. judges include Nels Dahlquist with Hoop er and Sons as auctioneers. Includes 4-H and FFA youth judging. sale begins at 11 am on November 2.

Mrs Arthell King Schutt 26 of Montpelier died Friday in Bear Lake hospital. She was the daughter of Albert Kunz and Maria Kunz of Montpelier and a 1942 Montpelier High School graduate. Survivors include her husband William. infant son ten days old. her parents. and brothers Myrla Nad ein James Kong of Montpelier Ronald Kunz in Mississippi and Clarence Kunz of Ogden. Funeral Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Montpelier 4th Ward chapel conducted by Bishop Eugene P Shepherd. Burial in Montpelier cemetery. Matthewa Mortuary in Montpelier directed.
Mr. and Mrs. Edlmond Monson of St. Charles observed their fifty third anniversary on October 18 with a family dinner at their son Orlando Monson’s home. Nathalie Johnson and Nathalie’s marriage date of October 14, 1897 in the Logan LDS Temple is noted alongside three Monson children and eight grandchildren plus six great grandchildren. Mr. Monson remains active in farming. Mrs. Monson endures arthritis with cane-assisted mobility.
Jo Ann Rogers daughter of Mr and Mrs Alfred Rogers of Paris and James Stephens son of Mr and Mrs Stephens of Montpelier were married October 18 in Elko Nevada. The couple planned to live in Montpelier and enjoyed a Washington Oregon Idaho trip after the ceremony.
