Obituary Fragments for Florence Dud Cook and Irene Dudley

Obituaries note Florence Dud Cook 62 of Garden City and Paris died after a brief illness. Services held in Garden City ward with church leaders and choir. Irene Dudley, born 1888 in Clifton, longtime teacher, wife of L L Cook, died in Vernal. She had a long career in education and Relief Society work. They leave surviving relatives including children Rex and Darrington, and many grandchildren.

Young Women's MIA Board Announces Stake Honor Roll Eligibility

The Young Women's MIA Board declares all wards may appear on the Stake Honor Roll if monthly reports are submitted by the Monday after the last MIA meeting. Wards listed include Liberty, St Charles, Paris 1st, Lanark, Paris 2nd, Laketown, Fish Haven, Garden City, Sharon, Ovid, Bloomington. Four wards—Fish Haven, Lanark, St Charles, Laketown—made the Honor Roll.

Golden 50th Anniversary Celebration Held at Local Church

A Monday Oct 30 ceremony marked the golden wedding of Mr and Mrs A Peterson at the church house. About 140 attended including many out of town guests from Star Valley Lava American Falls Conda and Garden City. The program featured prayers duets readings jokes and illusions followed by ice cream cake and punch.

Five Bear Lake men called for military induction

Five men from Bear Lake county received orders to report for induction into the armed forces. Named are 20th Earl Keith Whitaker of Montpelier, Donald Bruce Dimick of Montpelier, Lund Arnell of Dingle, Gordon L. Ipson of Bennington, and Leslie Junior Hill of St. Charles who was moved from the Local Board to San Francisco for induction.

Close County Election Says Republicans Take Bear Lake Wins

In Bear Lake County races Republicans claimed most seats as Tony Kunz and Clarence Lind won sheriff and clerk races. Eldon Cook and Lewis Munk led in state contests while Welker beat Worth Clark for U.S. Senate and Len Jordan defeated Calvin Wright for governor. Dworshak led Burtenshaw for the U.S. Senate four year term as voting totals by precinct were released.

Funeral Services for Mrs Rasmussen in Kemmerer Ward

Funeral services for the late Jennie Alfred Rasmussen were held November 27 in the Kemmerer Wyoming LDS ward chapel with Bishop Roy Wainwright conducting. The service featured prayers, songs and talks by local clergy and relatives, with interment at St. Charles after a large turnout from Kemmerer Bear Lake Star Valley and Utah.

Funeral Service Held Friday for Laketown Lady

A funeral was held in Laketown ward chapel for Cora Farner Johnson wife of Wilsworth Johnson. The service directed by Hall Mortuary of Logan featured organ music by Mary N. Johnson and readings by Gaydean Gatterthwaite with multiple speakers and musical selections. Cora, born October 9 1887 in Garden City Utah, lived in Laketown and Garden City with her husband and eight children several of whom survived. Funeral attendees included family, church members, and friends from nearby towns.
