Fielding High won 14 to 12 over Bancroft on a rainy Friday afternoon. Bancroft scored first after a Fielding interception, then Fielding answered with a third quarter touchdown and a late pass for the winning score. Fielding will play Afton, Wyoming, at Paris this Friday.
The Montpelier Bears defeated Kemmerer, Wyoming 21 to 0 last Friday night after a scoreless first half. Three touchdowns and a safety in the second half highlighted the win as Montpelier prepares to host Malad this Friday.

Daniel T. Thomander 74 of Taylorsville Utah died at home last Friday at 9 35 am of causes incident to age. Born November 28 1870 in Ephraim he taught 15 years at Ephraim Castle Dale and Fielding Academy Paris Idaho. Survived by wife Effie Alfred six children and a sister funeral held in Taylorsville ward chapel.
Institutional users in the Idaho OPA district including hospitals schools jails and cafes must return allotment applications for the November-December rationing period by November 1. District officials led by Raymond F. Luekenga will mail 1809 form blanks. 1500 files moved to district offices to speed service as local boards close.
Pfc. Fayon R. Pugmire son of Mr and Mrs Ray Pugmire of St Charles earned a medical discharge on Oct 3 1945 after service beginning April 27 1944. He trained at Camp Robinson Ark served with the truck division then infantry overseas in England and France with the 36th Division of General Patch 7th Army. He was captured Dec 14 1944 at Colmar and held at Stalag 6B and Stalag 5A before liberation April 27 1945 by the 12th Armored Division. He returned to the States in June 1945.
Four Bear Lake County men were inducted at Fort Douglas on Sept. 27 and assigned to Army or Navy. Wayne Clark Wendell Brown Lewis Young join the Army, Leon E. Booth enters the Navy. October pre induction quota is nine with reporting on Oct. 22 and induction on Oct. 29. Mrs Grant Rich becomes Local Board Clerk replacing Mrs Thelma Bunderson who resigned after serving since the year’s start.
Fielding High’s Future Farmers of America chapter plans a busy year with representatives Don Jensen Dale Beck Glads 2 Leasark and Hemmert set to show fat Hereford calves at the Ogden Livestock Show November 3 to 7. Green Hand initiations for 32 new members will be October 25 as officers finalize the program now that harvest is done and school resumes. 1945 46 officers include President Don Parker Vice President Ezra Budge Secretary Fred Lewis Treasurer Don Jensen Reporter J T Eborn.

Mrs. William Tueller of Geneva and her mother Mrs. McDonald of Brigham City visited the Tueller home in Poc atello with Paul and Carl Tueller, Lyman Tueller, Mrs. Oliver Tueller of Boise, and other relatives. Mesdames Anderson and Dalyrumple of Salt Lake joined briefly. Deasie Peterson Tom Collings and Laura McKinley also called. Dalyrumple stayed a short visit while others returned Sunday.
The Friday Afternoon Bridge club met at Mrs Mona Shep herd home. Bertha Hoge won the high score prize. Refreshments were served to Inez Tunks, Orlean Innes, Emma Shepherd, Ethel Jensen, Bertha Hoge, Dorothy Tueller, Clara Budge, and the hostess.
Mrs H Burton hosts Montpelier G I A Bridge Club Friday night at her daughter Mrs Palmer Tueller s home. Guests include Megdames Lew Tanner Harry Smith Charles John McLaughlin Hugh Marie Cornwell Charles Cochrangy Dorothy Tueller and Mrs C D Topper. Lew Tanner takes high score, Harry Smith low, Hugh Reed wins all out prize.
A correction notes last week’s report misidentified the car driver near Georgetown. The correct driver’s name is Melvin Kunz, not David Kunz.
A Montpelier jury finds driver recklessness caused Fern Robison death in the Oct 7 auto crash. Mevin Kunz of Bern drove the pickup with six passengers returning from a Georgetown dance. Robison, 18, died. Passengers Donna Michaelson and Oma Kunz survived. others were not injured. Coroner Verge Williams presided with jurors R L Collipriest and others.
North Rich High School principal Arlo B. Weston addresses false statements made by Milford Loveland of Garden City. He explains the district sent only earned credits to Fielding High and notes a standard intelligence test, not just credits, influenced placement decisions. The test results show the girls were not ready for ninth grade.
A Thursday night PTA meeting hosted by Fish Haven drew a splendid turnout. The program was followed by ice cream sandwiches for attendees.
The deer hunting season begins next Sunday with favorable conditions anticipated.
