Fielding High opened its football season last Friday with a dominant 33 to 0 win over Soda Springs. Reed Haddock left with a right arm injury but is expected to return in a couple weeks. Next Friday Fielding hosts Bancroft in what shapes up as a tougher test.

Mr and Mrs Charles R Beyeler announce the marriage of their son Earl to Margene Kunz daughter of Mr and Mrs Abel Kunz of Bern on Tuesday October 2 in the Salt Lake temple with the temple president officiating Lt Beyeler a former University of Idaho Southern Branch student spent 18 months overseas with the Seventh Army Air Forces as bombardier and wears five battle stars four oak leaf clusters the air medal and DFC.

He explains grade progression and two year seventh and eighth grade completion to satisfy the faculty and public concerns.
Vern D. Eschler of Raymond Idaho, a fireman first class, is aboard the USS Sherburne in Tokyo Bay. The attack transport arrived Sept 2 and began unloading troops and equipment by boat, later docking at Yokohama for occupation duties.
EB W Stucki and daughter Afton with Mrs Hirza Stucki returned home Thursday after a few days visit in Shelton and American Lakes in Oregon.
Mrs Bryson Cook and her son Jay spent Monday night at the home of Mrs Eliza B Cook. On Tuesday Mrs Cook accompanied them to Logan where Jay is attending school.
E D Hymas announces Bear Lake County Local Board No 1 is designated as a Veterans Information Center in the Grimmett Building Paris Idaho. Center aids veterans with reemployment rights insurance G I loans educational opportunities and other services free of charge to help readjust to civilian life.
Dr W G Hoge and family spent the weekend with his mother Mrs Walter Hoge and visited Chase Rich in Pingree and friends in Blackfoot Idaho. He will report to Carlyle Barracks Penn October 18 and then attend two Georgia camps before Army release. He hopes to settle near Denver and had an outstanding record at Northwestern Medical School and Cook County Hospital.
Private First Class William G. Lauritzen age 24 son of Mr and Mrs William G Lauritzen of Paris Idaho has been honorably discharged from Army Air Forces after almost three years in Upper Assam India. He enlisted January 18 1942 and earned 80 discharge points. A Fielding High School graduate he earned letters in football and track.
Miss Beatrice Warner of Pocatello formerly Fish Haven wore a unique inverted wastepaper basket Easter bonnet in Glasgow last spring. The Red Cross Recreation group member was photographed for the Daily Record story describing the hat with rhododendron blooms and pink ribbons.
The 116th General Conference welcomed the public with all sessions open and no admission tickets. Attendance surged, especially at Priesthood and Sunday sessions, with 8,639 at the Priesthood meeting and crowds filling the tabernacle and grounds to capacity. First Counselor J Reuben Clark Jr led a multi-group sustaining vote for the eight authority bodies, taking about an hour and forty votes. The dominant themes urged church unity and missionary effort across a broad audience.
Robison Mia Nazelto, 18, of Georgetown died instantly when a pickup rolled over after a passing maneuver on the old Oregon Trail. The crash occurred about 12 15 a m Sunday one mile south of Georgetown and 11 miles from Montpelier. Coroner Verge Williams held an inquest. she is survived by her father Roy Robison and siblings Mabel Loren and Mia Robison. Funeral held Tuesday in Georgetown ward chapel.
Verl B. Wilkes son of Mr and Mrs Ernest Wilkes returns home after eight years in the service abroad including the Aleutian and Pacific theaters. Discharged at Fort Lewis October 2 with multiple medals. Cpl Fay Loveland, a paratrooper with four major campaigns and medals including Purple Heart and Bronze Star, discharged at Camp McCoy September 23 and soon to attend school in Minnesota.
A special meeting of the Cache Utah Woolgrowers was held in Logan on October 8 to discuss predatory animal control on National Forest grazing allotments. Utah State Board of Agriculture officials reported changes after the U S Fish and Wildlife service withdrew, with about $1000 projected to fund continued control work. Bear Lake sheepmen attended, and speakers from Forest Service outlined cooperation and range-improvement needs, including fencing and coyote control extending to deer winter ranges.
Mr and Mrs Newell Lewis and Miss Lola Dean Lewis were in Ogden on business Wednesday of last week. Returning with them from Logan was Mrs Lyman Sparks who has been visiting her husband in California about a month.
Montpelier High School football opened the season under coach Jerry Taylor and defeated Grace 85 0. The Bears scored on three rushing touchdowns an interception return and a forward pass. Grace showed a passing threat but did not reach the scoreboard. The Bears travel to Kemmerer Wyoming this Friday at 7 30 p m.
Staff Sgt. Marvin F. Clark of Georgetown with the 12th Armored Division Seventh Army earned the Bronze Star for heroism near Lauingen Germany. Amid heavy anti aircraft fire and burning ammunition on his M 7 Clark directed medical aid and fought to control the blaze enabling evacuation of wounded troops. The 12th Armored Division, famed for its Danube river bridge seizure and rapid Alpine advances, was activated in 1942 and served under Patton.
Cpl Douglan Barnett of New York City and Mrs Mercy Kesey of Salt Lake City visit the Heber Price home in Paris Saturday. Barnett waits at the Kearns Replacement center for an overseas assignment and is related to the Price family, his first Utah Idaho visit.
Hunting of ducks and geese starts in Idaho Saturday October 18 with half hour before sunrise shooting. The season features a strong local supply, a 10 duck bag limit with one wood duck, no extra mallards last year, and 90 day possession after season end. Shotguns only, shells limited, white geese and swans banned, licenses and federal duck stamps required.
