Fielding High Spartans suffered a 25-0 defeat by the Malad Dragons on the home gridiron in a non-conference tilt. Dragons dominated with a weight edge and scored in each of the last two frames while Spartan offense stalled amid fumbles and interceptions. Spartan lineman Jack Allred ended the game with a back injury ending his season.

Mrs Charles Innes hosted a club gathering Friday afternoon. Mrs Audrey Monson won high score for the session. Refreshments were served to Mesdames Hithel Jensen Audrey Monson Inez Tunks Fern Beck Dorothy Tueller Emma Shepherd Dorothy Varner and Mrs Rawson of Camp Lifton after play.
The Rich family held a Centennial reunion at the Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City where a bronze plaque memorialized Nancy O Neil Rich, first adult Mormon pioneer to die in Salt Lake City. Nancy died October 5, 1847 after crossing the plains and was buried near Pioneer Square. She was wife of Charles C. Rich and mother of Apostle Chas C. Rich. The association lists Dr. Ezra C. Rich as president and Morgan Rich, Dr. Howard I. Rich, Edith Rich, Lettie B. Rich among leadership.
The Boise VA office approved GI loans totaling 18 530 895 for 3070 Idaho veterans through Sept 1 1946. 2466 loans funded home purchases or construction worth 11 203 297 and 320 business loans totaling 1 142 280 while 284 farm loans reached 1 185 216. 52 veterans have fully repaid about 141 774. Wells warned against inflated materials and side deals violating federal laws.
About fifty Fielding Chapter FFA members toured Logan dairies on Sept. 30 visiting Utah State Agricultural College Dairy herd and barns Utah Dairy Experimental Station Springs Creek Cache Meadows and Bordens Milk Condenser plant. The trip focused on dairy operations and experimental pasture plots.

Funeral services for Mahonri M. Collings were conducted in the Paris 2nd Ward chapel with Bishopric aide Sherman Lowe presiding. The Nineteenth Century LDS rites included musical selections by a quartet and soloists, prayers, and remarks by Morris D. Low. Collings, born January 17 1856 in James River New Jersey, traveled from New York to Zion via the plains and settled in Baar Lake before marrying Annie Horsley in 1885. He left eleven children and a large posterity of 121 descendants.

A reception in St. Charles for Mr. and Mrs. David N. Pugmire marked their golden wedding anniversary on October 4 1897. Attendees included children grandchildren and many relatives from Pocatello Bloomington Garfield Utah and other towns.
Misa Merlyn Stith of Fish Haven became the bride of Weldon Bay Pitcher of Smithfield Utah on Oct 4 in Montpelier. Justice of the Peace Albert E Leeright officiated with Mr. and Mrs. Ron Pitcher and Mr. and Mrs. Thos Smith present. The groom, a World War II veteran, will work in construction in Tremonton Utah after a brief honeymoon.
Hunters statewide report strong opener for goose and duck seasons. Many hunters limited out on ducks while geese dominate in Bear Take Valley amid mild fall weather and light rain Wednesday morning.
Mia Thelma Jensen and her Melville Utah family spent four days with Jr. and Mrs. Andrew Barfugs from Monday through Thursday, visiting her parents.

At the Parla Lions club monthly meeting a committee was chosen to plan the annual New Year s Eve dance described as a gala affair. Members discussed youth recreation development for Bear Lake west side, with a plan to cooperate with local groups and the city. Fifteen members attended a dinner at the Hotel Coffee Shop.
Colonel McGary of the Utah General Distribution Depot announced that repatriation ships will arrive in October with remains delivered to final destinations across Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Nevada and eastern Oregon. He cautioned a weeks to three week gap between ports and local delivery due to distance, rail transfers, weather and road conditions, and processing times.
Mrs. Lloyd Hansen hosted the sewing club on Wednesday evening for their first fall gathering. Members present included Velma Hansen Ila Lewis Jeanine Parker Grace Heap Irene Wyler Bern Eborn and Gladya Bateman.
Mr and Mrs John Ballentyne and daughter Jean with Mrs Monson arrived from Bozeman Montana. Jean stayed with her grandparents while the Ballentyne couple and Mrs Monson moved on to Salt Lake for the Relief Society conference. They also attended the Rich reunion.

W. Shepherd, Mary Lewia, Vinnie Price, Ady Budge, Robert Wallentine, H. L. Spencer, Lena Fox, Pauline Cox, and Hattie Wallentine.
Col. Graves B. McGary announced that the War Department raised the maximum interment allowance for World War II deceased to 75 dollars from 50. Military escorts will carry forms for next of kin to list burial costs up to the 75 dollar limit, with exact payment if burial costs are under 1 dollar.
Funeral services for Richard S Pugmire were held Sunday in the St Charles LIDS ward chapel with Bishop Arlin Pugmire officiating. A large group of relatives attended. pallbearers included Lew, Lewis, Leland Pugmire, and Bunderson relatives.
The Pugmire family expresses gratitude for prayers, help during illness and death of their husband and father Mia Richard S. Pugmire and family thank those who offered floral tributes and deeds during this difficult time.
Mrs. Calvin Smedley announces the marriage of daughter Violet to Claude Jensen on September 24 in Detroit Michigan. Violet is a Fielding High School graduate with LDS Business College training and wartime service in Hills Field. Claude Jensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Jensen of Parowan Utah, is a Cedar City High School graduate with five years in the armed forces and works as a tire inspector at U S Rubber. The couple will reside in Detroit.
A pleasant afternoon by friends on Wednesday October 1 marked the 82nd birthday of Mrs. Eliza Stucks. An auto ride preceded refreshments at Mrs. Lois Baker’s home, the former Stucks residence, with many friends visiting in the evening bearing gifts and good wishes.

Mrs. and Mrs. Russell Nate of Salt Lake City spent the weekend at Mrs. Marla Cole's home. Cole joined the Nates in Salt Lake, attended a conference, and visited for several days.
Ilmont Crawford and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Innes visited Mrs. Lucille Crawford at Logan Hospital. They drove to Brigham City for a brief visit with friends. Mrs. Crawford, who recently had major surgery, was able to return home Tuesday.

Refreshments were served to Mesdames Ethel Jensen, Dortha Hann, Orlean Innes, Fern Beck, Melinda Sparks, Emma Shepherd and Dorothy Varner. A short business meeting voted in three new members: Mrs. June Hoge, Mrs. Lucille Crawford and Mrs. Doris Willmore.
