The Fielding Spartans crushed Lava Hot Springs 31 0 on a Wednesday afternoon in their season opener. Coach Willmore played all players as Scott Pugmire and Larry Poulsen set up every scoring drive with early end runs.
A regular Parent Teachers association meeting is scheduled for Wednesday October 8 at 730 p m in the Emerson school building All parents are urged to attend The Rosen family Mr and Mrs Frank Rosen and son Harold recently visited and then traveled via Provo toward home Harold will enter Brigham Young University in Provo Utah
The Temple Schedule lists 5th Quorum Elders for October 2 with Paris 1st Ward, 4th Quorum Elders for November 6 with Paris 2nd Ward, and 6th and 7th Elders for December 4 with St Charles. The program features sermons from Bros Humpherys and Budge, remarks by Thomas Piggott and Jay Nelson, and leadership changes with Piggott released and Nelson installed as 2nd counselor to Bishop Ward. Services include hymns, prayers, sacraments, and ward announcements conducted by Bishop Ward and presiding officers, with musical selections from Marjorie Robinson and Lola Johnson.
The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers held a Friday event at the Paris 2nd ward meeting house at 2 p.m. honoring retiring officers Captain Etta Bird Vice Captains Mary A Lewis and Nina born and co workers. Gifts were presented for services last year and a cafeteria luncheon followed. Captain Hazel Peterson and Montpelier camp organized the event with nineteen seven ladies from four county camps attending.
Mahroni M Collings aged 91 died Wednesday morning around 2:30 at the home of his son in Paris. Born in Thomas River New Jersey, he moved with family to Utah, settling in Cache Valley and Bear Lake before Paris. Survived by eight children including M Collings of Paris and Thomas Collings of Brigham City. funeral planned for Monday in Paria 2nd Ward chapel.
The Logan Old-Time Dance Club thrilled St. Charles ward with a Monday night program. Judge Jesse P Rich led as former Paris resident. vice president Leland Edwards attended with Mrs Edwards, Bonnie Erickson of Garden City. Thirty three couples from Logan attended by bus and cars. A male quartet closed the evening with songs and a chorus.
Ike Beck landed a ten pound native trout that dressed out to 8 pounds 1 ounce while fishing Sunday morning between Lakota and Ideal Beach. He entered the prize in the Rainbow Rod & Gun club contest as the season leader. A Garden City man reportedly caught a 14 pounder recently but did not enter.
Mrs Louis a Grimmett left Saturday for Pocatello to stay a week or ten days at the home of her daughter Mrs James B Bruce.
Mrs Lloyd Hansen and two children visited Georgetown for a birthday party on Friday. Cheryl extended her stay as her parents drove over to pick her up Sunday evening.
Roseville California residents Mr and Mrs Homer Hillis and family joined Mr and Mrs George Hillis Sr and family and Mr George Hillis Jr with two children, Mr and Mrs Ira Hills and two children, and Mr LeRoy Skinner of Soda Springs. They enjoyed a dinner and swim at Bear Lake Hot Springs in the afternoon. The Hillis family are father and brother of Mrs Law.
Daniel S Price, 68, former Paris Idaho furniture dealer and mortician, died Tuesday afternoon in a Logan hospital after a short illness. He was born Feb 3, 1879 in Paris, served a Ireland mission, was Paris LDS bishop, and leaves a widow Clara Budge Price and one daughter Jemel Price among many relatives. Funeral Friday at 1 pm in Logan 4th Ward Chapel with interment in Logan Cemetery.
The Montpelier Lions club to stage a 12 act revue of the Gay 90s in Fielding High auditorium on Wednesday October 8 at 8 15 pm. The show features a group described as beautiful graceful and agile with admission 60 cents for adults and 25 cents for children.
Bear Lake County Agent Willard E. Kunz warns cooler mornings and rain raise fire hazards as stoves heaters and dirty flues spark fires. The week of October 5 to 11 is Fire Prevention Week with tips on heating systems electric wiring gas storage and fire extinguishers to reduce risks.
Dr. Walter G. Hoge his wife Mrs. Hoge and children Barbara Ann and Rich returned from Germany where he served in the Medical Corps with the Army of Occupation for a year. They plan discharge from the army soon and will visit relatives in Blackfoot after leaving Paris last November.
Garden City Primary sponsored a ward social with two basketball games Fish Haven men beat Garden City men Garden City married women defeated young girls. Children enjoyed races and a fish pond. Booths sold food. A white elephant dance followed. A quilt won first prize then sold at the dance. Over eighty dollars was raised for the ward welfare allotment.
Friday afternoon bridge club was hosted by Mrs A W Shepherd. Mrs Inez Tunks won high score as the group of dames including Fern Beck Dorothy Twueller Bertha Hoge Orlean Innes Ethel Jensen and Dorothy Varner enjoyed delicious refreshments at the end of play.
Ducks Unlimited led by Theo H Wegener of Boise objects to declining waterfowl numbers and promotes expanding breeding areas in Canada and the United States. Idaho plans split season dates October 7 to 20 and December 2 to 16, with favorable outlooks on local shooting though nesting regions face declines. Observers note strong production in southern Alberta and Saskatchewan, while the pothole region shows reduced breeding despite abundant food and nesting sites.
Mrs W Smith Hoge entertained her Montpelier club last Thursday evening after dinner at the Hotel Coffee Shop. The group played bridge at Mrs John Hoge’s home with guests including Mrs Standley Mtch Mrs Ellis Straw Mrs Seth N Kunz Mrs Tom Sneddon Mrs Scott Pendrey Mrs Wesley Baker Mrs John Hoge of Paris and Mrs James Bruce of Pocatello.
Mr and Mrs Ivan Willmore and their daughter traveled to Pocatello on Thursday for Ivan to attend a teachers convention. Mrs Willmore and daughter stayed with her sister to help care for the sister and her baby. The sister and baby later returned home from a Pocatello hospital on Saturday.
Richard Pugmire aged 75 died Tuesday afternoon at his St. Charles home after several days illness. He was born July 25, 1872, taught a LDS mission in the South, and is survived by his widow, three children Stanford Pugmire Curtin Pugmire and Mrs Arvilla Wuthrich, seven grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral set for Sunday at 2 PM in the St Charles ward chapel.

Four thousand and forty seven Idaho veterans have reinstated National Service Life Insurance totaling 27 665 500 over the past seven months. In the last 30 days 348 veterans brought back 2 369 500 of GI insurance after policy lapse.
Mr and Mrs Ferris Hess and family of Montpelier were callers Sunday at the Dallas Athay and Walter Bird homes, delivering greetings and sharing a social visit.
The Idaho game department announced a two period duck season from October 7 to 20 and December 2 to 20 with a four duck daily limit and two geese. Open water areas in lower elevations and Canada goose increases improve outlook. Idaho licensing and federal duck stamp requirements apply.
