Bear Lake Stake to Host Quarterly Conference in Paris
The Bear Lake LDS Stake will hold its Stake Quarterly Conference at the Stake Tabernacle in Paris on Saturday and Sunday December 2 and 3. Principal speaker Bishop Victor L. Brown, former United Airlines executive, will address attendees along with Elder G L Richards and Elder L S Richards from the church headquarters. General meetings are set for Sunday at 10 am and 2 pm with President W K Matthews presiding.

Carlsen Funeral Conducted in Liberty
Funeral services for Charles W. Carlsen, who died Nov. 19 after a brief illness, were held at the Liberty LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Reed Hymas officiating. Dennis Carlsen offered the family prayer. music was provided by Mrs. Jennie Hemmert and a ward choir. Ray L. Hymas delivered the eulogy. speakers included Pres. W. K. Matthews and Alfred Jensen. Interment followed at Ovid Cemetery with pallbearers Dale Sorenson Carlyle Gamble Randy Carlsen Garth Carlsen Roger Carlsen and Sherwood Koford.

Ricks College Program Bureau presents its fast moving show Ricks in Revue 1967 at 7 30 p m December 1 at Bear Lake Junior High auditorium. The program features comedy dance vocal and novelty numbers with the Vikadettes Drill marching team the Ricks College Dance Club Glen Mahana of Victor Texas who imitates more than 35 celebrities and a dozen other student acts. Bern Matron Dies of Heart Ailment
Nellie Parker Porter Schmid 71 of Bern died November 27 at home after a heart ailment. Born April 8, 1898, she was a daughter of Henry and Alice Gambling Parker and lived in Bern 44 years. She married Charles LeRoy Porter in 1918. he died the same year. A second marriage to Robert Schmid occurred in 1923. he died in 1961. She was a former school teacher with four sons and six daughters surviving, 32 grandchildren, and several brothers. Funeral services were held at the Bern LDS Chapel with interment in Bern Cemetery.

Bear Lake County 4-H members were honored at Achievement Night November 16 at Bear Lake High School Montpelier. Nada Jean Dahlke welcomed participants and praised 1967 4-H work. Awards included Marcia Bartschi Grand Champion Beef Steer from Tri-State Inc. Rosalie Payne Reserve Grand Champion Beef Steer and Best Beef Breeding. Scott Austin Outstanding Beef Project. Keith Werd Outstanding Beef Project with grooming gifts.
