Tiger Attack on US Marine in Vietnam Jungle Event
In Vietnam near the DMZ Marine Corporal Jim Shepherd of Montpelier Idaho, 19, wrestled a tiger that dragged him toward a creek for about 80 seconds. The tiger released after Shepherd fought back with punches and neck grabs. Shepherd received eight stitches for a bite wound while his unit treated him.

Minor Accident in Paris Causes $200 Damage Each
At 12:30 p.m. last Saturday two cars collided when Carol Ward turned left into Ida Ward’s street. Neil Budge’s car hit the Ward vehicle, damaging the Budge car’s right front fender and bumper. Passenger Mark Budge and all involved reported no injuries. City Marshal Ben Kelsey investigated.

Bear Lake County Aims for Bangs Free Certification
Bear Lake County moves toward Brucellosis Bangs free status as state veterinarians and the department of agriculture coordinate with County Agent Hyrum G. Johnson. Utah Men Sentenced for Montpelier Burglary
Tuesday afternoon District Judge Francis J Rasmussen sentenced Paul Hatton and Monty Kemp, both of Salt Lake City, to up to ten years in the penitentiary for burglary. The sentences run concurrently with parole possible. Hatton and Kemp were arrested during the burglary attempt at the Montpelier self service laundromat on November 5 by Officer Kenneth Quayle and held on $10,000 cash bond each.

Survivors include son Lloyd in Ogden Utah. daughters Nadma Budge of Ogden and Colleen Ray of Santa Barbara. 13 grandchildren. four brothers Carel Salt Lake City, Wilford Montpelier, LeGrand Noonan, Rulon Cut Bank. a sister Laura Hoff of Pocatello. Funeral Friday noon at Montpelier Fourth LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call Matthews Mortuary 10 to 12:30. Interment in Montpelier Cemetery.

Free Electricity Lights 70 000 Lamps in Utah Idaho Wyoming
Utah Power and Light offers free electricity to illuminate about 70 000 holiday bulbs in 46 cities and towns across Utah Idaho and Wyoming. Burton C. Martin says lines are ready for installation on city streets and parks and crews will add service wires to connect lights to the grid. In the prior year the program supplied over 400 000 kilowatt hours for festive lighting in 80 communities reaching northern Cache Valley and southeastern Idaho.
