Child Killed in Emigration Canyon Utah Crash Claims Montpelier Couple

Idaho traffic toll rose to 258 with the death of 3 year old Brian Williams of Montpelier in a crash on Idaho Highway 36 near Strawberry Springs. His mother Nancy Williams drove the car off an icy road, the child reportedly thrown under the vehicle. His funeral was held in Ogden. The incident followed another two car head on near Mantua killing Montpelier residents John Ritter and Eleanor Ritter. Five others were injured. Survivors include their children and grandchildren.

Bear Lake Pioneers History to be published by DUP

In February the Daughters of Utah Pioneers of Bear Lake County will publish Histories of the Bear Lake Pioneers. The 900 page book costs 6.00 dollars per copy tax included. Depositors should pay the balance. mailed orders add 30 cents for packaging and mailing.

GSA to Sell Assorted Idaho Items December 5

The General Services Administration plans a sale of assorted items in Boise and other Idaho locations. Items include tree planters an outboard motor hydraulic jacks a safe and more. Inspection runs Nov 20 through Dec 4 at 9 00 am to 3 30 pm except weekends. Bids open at 10 15 am PST December 5 at the Seattle Business Service Center.

Ray Rich of Meridian Dies After Lingering Illness

Ray Rich of Meridian son of Hyrum Rich and Elizabeth Stock of St. Charles died Saturday after a lingering illness. He moved from St. Charles to Meridian, was a farmer, and is survived by his wife Mattie Baer, sons Lothair Verl and Vernon, and daughter Mrs. Bruce Wilhelmson. Funeral services were held in Meridian and burial followed in St. Charles Cemetery.

Bear Lake PTA Meeting Set for November 27

Bear Lake PTA to convene at 8:00 p.m. in Bear Lake High School with combined high school junior high and Lincoln. Speech Department directed by Mrs Adams will present a one act play introducing January PTA program to outline a student parent code of conduct. Parents invited to attend.

Death claims former F. H. resident

Frances Jensen Loveland Dewey 74 died after a short illness in an Ogden hospital. Born July 22 1803 at Perry she was a daughter of William Jensen and Clarissa Mae Ames Jensen. She married Sidney Lovesend then John A. Dewey. Interment was in the Fish Haven Cemetery. she lived in Bear Lake County and was active in the LDS Church and local professions.

Charles Carlsen Services Held at Liberty Ward Chapel

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Liberty LDS Ward Chapel for Charles Willard Carlsen 61 who died November 19 at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born December 21 1905 in Ovid to Niels and Julia Carlsen. A retired farmer and stockman he is survived by a brother Chris of Sharon and three sisters Mrs Laura Koford and Mrs Elma Koford both of Montpelier and Mrs Delma Sorensen of Ovid.

Idaho DPL Warns on Christmas Tree Transport Rules

Idaho Department of Public Lands warns that transporting more than five coniferous trees on highways requires a bill of sale. Violations carry a fine from 50 to 300 dollars or up to six months in jail. Owners may transport trees without a bill of sale if they own the land and have proper ownership evidence. Contact local DPL office for questions.

Rich County School District Spurs New Class for Mentally Handicapped

Rich County School District launches a new after school class for mentally handicapped children in Randolph Utah from 4 30 to 6 30 pm starting November 21. Robert W McDill of Evanston Wyoming will instruct. Aubry Moody will coordinate services. Parents must provide transportation. Supt Richard L Harmon says the program expands access to education for students previously unable to attend.
