Amanda Pope 98 Garden City Pioneer Funeral Held

Funeral services were held for Amanda Calder Pope 98 at the Garden City Ward chapel with burial in Garden City cemetery. Born April 9 1859 in Bountiful Utah she moved Bear Lake Valley 85 years ago and lived in Garden City several years. Survivors include daughters Alice Langford Edith Whittington 17 grandchildren 54 great grandchildren 39 great great grandchildren and two great great great grandchildren along with extended relatives. Mr Pope preceded her in death in 1911.

The Stake Jr Gleaner program themed Clean Life and Sacred to Me took place November 12 in the St Charles recreation hall and Relief Society room. Vern Peterson Named Music Instructor at Fielding High

Vern Peterson of Brigham City, a longtime Utah State University graduate and music educator, becomes Fielding High School music instructor. He will lead the band and beginners band at Fielding and Emerson schools and teach chorus while filling the position vacated by Thomas Waterlous. Mrs. Peterson, a college graduate, will be hired as first grade instructor at Emerson School in the interim.
