Martha Humphrey Dies in Logan November Eleventh

Mrs Martha Lucretia Brunson Humphreys 86 died at her Logan home from age related causes. A convert to the LDS church she moved to Utah in 1901 from Owenshaw South Carolina. Surviving are eight children including Herbert Humphrey and William P Humphrey of Logan and Kirkland Humphrey of Manhattan Beach California along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Socialists Cast Notable Idaho Vote in Early 20th Century

A compilation from the Idaho State Chamber of Commerce shows Socialist Irene Debs winning 11,900 votes in Idaho’s 1912 presidential election where total state votes were 10,218. It lists Wilson 33,921 Taft 2,810 Roosevelt 25,527 and notes later Communist votes in 1932 1940 1944 and 1924 Pro gressive support for La Follette with 54,160 votes. The peak Idaho tally occurred in 1940 with 235,168 votes among Democrat, Republican, Socialist and Communist candidates.

Bear Lake county favored Walter H Anderson and Darwin W Thomas for Supreme Court seats with 1441 and 1165 votes respectively while C J Taylor had 1084. Amendments HJR No 9 and No 2 passed statewide, with Yes counts 1772 and 11851, No 661 and 117. Loyal Lauritzen visited Idaho Falls and Twins seeking photography work. Montpelier Lady Dies After Long Illness

Mrs Lena Werren Sutter 68 died at her Montpelier home after a long illness. Funeral services were held in the Montpelier 4th ward chapel with Bishop Eugene P Shephard presiding. She was born September 29 1882 in Amseldingen Berne Switzerland and moved to Montpelier in 1901. She married Rudolph Sutter in 1903 and had eight children, four of whom preceded her in death. survivors include Rudolph Sutter Jr Eddie Sutter Lena Bartlome Ruby Etch everry 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
