Bear Lake County Over Subscribes in Cancer Fund Drive

The Bear Lake district of the Idaho Cancer Society reports total cancer fund contributions of 1225.60 surpassing its 899.59 quota and the 1000 goal. Montpelier treasurer Mrs. Joseph Walton announced the district led by Mrs. O T Parker, with many ward totals listed and appreciation extended to donors and workers for surpassing the national campaign target.

Minnetonka Cave Reopens Sundays After War Closure

Minnetonka Cave near St Charles canyon reopens to the public starting June 1, open Saturdays and Sundays 9 am to 6 pm, with guide service and lights provided. The general trout season starts June 4 and runs to October 31. Weather favors clear creeks on opening day, and the fish and game department notes high licensing demand, with residents paying 2 for fishing and 3 for fishing and hunting, while non residents pay 3 for five days or 10 for the season. Lt. (j.g.) Ferdinand Graussi of the United States Naval Reserve is awarded the Air Medal by President Truman for valor in the Marianas on January 2, 1945. After his co pilot was killed and the pilot wounded, he navigated 900 miles home and helped land the crippled aircraft, preserving the mission.

Fielding FFA Boys Receive $500 in Awards

Fielding FFA members received about five hundred dollars in awards this past month. Sears Roebuck & Company donated a pure bred Hereford Heifer and a pure bred Holstein Heifer to the Fielding Chapter, placed on contract to Ray Law and Dee Hymas. The calves may pass to the original owner after four years via a generation plan to foster pure bred farming start for another boy. Don Parker, a senior, earned a Union Pacific scholarship covering two years of tuition at the University of Idaho. Mrs. Walter Poulsen and Mr. Jack Hawkins visited Conda Friday.

William Rich and Dixie Pope Marry in Idaho Temple

William J Rich and Dixie Pope were married in the Idaho Falls temple on May 21 in a double ring ceremony attended by family including Eldon Pope, Clarence Rich, Arden Pope, and Fred J Shockey. Pfc Scott Bolton to Attend Radar Maintenance Course

Pfc. Scott L. Bolton of Paris Idaho is selected for the Highth Army Signal Corps School Radar Maintenance Course at Eighth Army in Yokohama Japan. Major Leonard Pasciak announces the sixteen week program teaching radar installation operation maintenance and related electronics. Bolton and others are trained by civilian engineers from Philco and the U S Civil Service, and will return as skilled radar technicians.

The Fielding High School Vocational Agriculture department notes a ten year FFA influence with 65 members in 1946 registering 72 projects. Projects included beef and dairy cattle, sheep, poultry, wine, potatoes, wheat and orchard totals, earning 7180.69 while expenses reached 1148 and receipts 74312.10. Net profit was 5982.78 with labor pay of 762.48. Federal and state support funds staff and tools, highlighting leadership training and the rise of vocational agriculture in rural education.
