Boise Freight Rates Cut by Idaho Utilities Commission

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission announced intrastate rates for contractors' equipment lower than before, saving thousands annually. The new structure lowers charges for 40 000 and 60 000 pound minimums over long hauls and may shift load movement from highway to rail. The commission expects Union Pacific to publish similar interstate rates. Boise also reported American Legion enrollment at 4 797, up from 1 309 a year ago, and a public clash over Bird N Hawley’s seat on the state game commission, prompting the governor to seek full public minutes of proceedings.
