Two Utahns Fined for Illegal Trout Removal
Two Utahns pleaded Saturday to illegal removal of wild trout from Sheep Creek in Caribou County. Each received a $300 fine with six months in jail, suspended. police officer Mike Wil said a canvas dam was used and fish were cast to the ground. Two women in the party were not held. The 4 to 8 pound fish weighed over 300 pounds total. eggs were estimated at more than 100,000. Wil stored the fish for welfare distribution.

Mary Annetta Johnson Peterson 77 of Ovid died Friday at 9 30 am after several weeks illness in hospital. Born December 10 1880 at Ovid to Joseph and Annette Johnson. Married Andrew Parley Peterson October 31 1900 in Logan Temple. he died September 16 1955. Survived by son Harley Peterson of Ovid, daughters Mrs Seymour Sleight of Bountiful Utah and Mrs Beatrice Clark of Georgetown, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two brothers Edgar Johnson of Burley and Jared Johnson of American Falls, two sisters Mrs Heber Crossley of Lava Hot Springs and Mrs Bert Farris of Tooele Utah. Funeral held Monday at 2 pm in the Ovid Ward Chapel with local musical tributes and speakers. burial by Kenneth Sleight of Paris.

Funeral service held for Percy Moffat in Laketown
Funeral services for Percy O De Witt Moffat of Salt Lake City were held May 15 in the Laketown ward meeting house. Bishop Norman E Weston presided. the ceremony included prayers, solos, and tributes from local clergy and family. Brent Weston son of Mr and Mrs Lorin Weston was returning from Ovid when the car rolled over after he allegedly dozed off near the lake shore. He was found at the monument minus one shoe and later treated in Montpelier for minor leg injuries. He may have been ejected before the crash. the car received considerable damage.
