A May 13 event at the Tabernacle features Merrill S or A Raymond delivering the ent address. Several members from Ogden and Heber were noted staying overnight for the occasion and local duties shift as custodian changes at Em Qrade School.
A local reminiscence recounts the disposal of surplus butter by a cooperative. Managers relocate stock to meet expenses as butter markets shift and wool becomes a temporary revenue source. A boy is found to help manage the butter and wool sale at 39 cents a pound, illustrating practical thrift and resource reuse.
Two Indian women will join Utah farm families for two months under the International Farm Youth Exchange program. Miss Kamala Kamala and Miss Sononi Shridhar plan to live with hosts in Garden City and Randolph and then move to additional Utah farms as guests of local families. They are college graduates and will participate in community life while learning American farm homemaking tasks.
Lois Arlene Beck, daughter of Mr and Mrs Maurice Beck of Ovid, married Joseph S Weston son of Mr and Mrs Laren Weston of Laketown Utah in the Logan Temple May 2 with Pres Raymond officiating. The ceremony was witnessed by parents, grandparents and relatives. a wedding dinner followed at Glauser's Cafe. The couple will honeymoon in southern Utah and reside in Laketown.
OVID NEWS lists residents visiting family over the weekend in Logan Dingle Montpelier and Ogden with many names and places. Catherine Johnson’s 82nd birthday included a May 4th gathering with potluck lunch and over forty attendees.
About 30 trout were captured in the St Charles Creek fish trap in April. Willard Johnson of Ovid oversaw operations with George Parker of Paris assisting. The trap began April 6 and a major run from the lake is expected late May. A Whig key Creek Hatchery truck collected spawn weekly to return to the lake.

It notes income tax activity this year tied to Social Security, with farm operators filing returns to secure social security protection. A Pocatello office rep will visit Montpelier May 15 to provide free information and services.
Smith Gertsch will head the Paris Lions Club as president for the ensuing year. Directors are Bob Allison and Morris B Athay. The dinner meeting with Lionesses was hosted by Fielding High School PTA. Rex Hadduck shared photos and a talk on his European tour.
Marlene Piggott a Fielding High School student earned a No 1 piano solo rating at the State Music Festival in Bodse. Judges graded tone interpretation technique selection memorization and general effect with first in all categories recommended for first division. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Piggott of Bloomington and will graduate this month planning to attend Brigham Young University this fall.

Seminary graduation service lists speakers and performances. Ruby Bolton leads graduates Jerald Bloorn Robert Transtrum Beryl Loveland. Sacred hymns and readings frame the program culminating in diplomas and benediction. Leaders include Merrill Budge and George Raymond of Logan Temple.
A reunion for former students and teachers of Brigham Young College Logan Utah is set for Saturday June 2 1956 in Logan. Events begin 5 30 p m at the Student Union building on the USAC campus with a Smorgasbord luncheon and a special program. Organizers Elizabeth Thorpe secretary Mrs John S Welch historian Ada Morrell and William Evans Jr coordinate reservations.
The Elizabeth Passey Camp of the DUP met at Iris Collings home with prayer by Mary Stucki and songs including In the Sweet Eye and Bye and Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes. Edith Haddock led the convention report as readings by Reed Joan and Linda Stucki accompanied by Leonora Stucki. The history piece by Maud Humpherys and social hour followed refreshments hosted by Iris Collings and Theressa Rich for 21 members and visitors. Next meeting set for May 17 at Beulah Bird residence.

At a May 7 meeting of Class A School District No. 33 the board approved a full replacement-value property insurance plan with a detailed districtwide appraisal valued at 2,689,586.40. They discussed enrollment projections for 1956-57 and proposed closures of Fish Haven Ovid Bern Bennington and Pegram while planning transportation and new facilities to support reorganization into Montpelier Paris and possibly a countywide junior high model.
