Boreh and Smith Plan Idaho Homecoming Visit

Boise reports Senator William E Boreh plans to return home around early June for rest and a statewide visit. Congressman Addison Smith writes he urged the president to stop in Boise on the Pacific coast trip and to travel west by the southern route. Mrs Smith and he enjoyed a visit with a congressional party examining reclamation projects in the southwest and look forward to returning for summer and fall.

Impressive funeral for St Charles nurse Leucilie Benson

Impressive funeral services were held in the ward chapel last Thursday for Leucilie Pugmire Benson who died after a prolonged illness in a Pocatello hospital. The service honored her life of nursing and service with speakers including Henry Monson and Bishop Hunt. She leaves a mother father two sisters a brother husband and son. The grave was blessed by E C Keetch with prayers by J W Linford and W A Keetch. Benson was 29 and spent much of her life in St Charles. She previously worked for Dr Linn of Pocatello and trained as a nurse at Fielding Academy and local schools.

Town clean-up day set for cemetery before Memorial Day

Mrs. Chapman Dies in Montpelier After Illness

Mrs. Chapman died after a short illness of erysipelas at Montpelier. Survived by husband W W Chapman now in Logan Utah and daughter Blanche Groo of Laramie Wyoming and a son in law and other relatives. Funeral services held at the Montpelier Presbyterian Church with Eastern Star rites and a later burial in Logan beside her husband and two children.

Bear Lake Valley locals note visits and summer open at hot springs

Fielding High School Graduates 27 Seniors Parade

Twenty seven Fielding High School students, fourteen girls and thirteen boys, have qualified for graduation pending completion of current work. The class features student leaders Everett Dayton, Maurita Cleveland, Nowell Budge as valedictorian, and Fern Allred as runner up. The group distinguished itself in theater, debates, basketball, and campus activities.

Returns to Paris for Summer

Mrs. Thomas Caldwell arrived home from Portland Oregon where she spent the winter with her husband in government hospital care for service injuries. The couple expect to return to Paris in late August after Thomas underwent February surgery for an abscess. Adolph Hunsaker, Mrs Caldwell’s father, came from Dingle and will spend the summer in Paris with his daughter.

Southern Idaho Placed on Mountain Time Basis

An Interstate Commerce Commission order shifts southern Idaho from Pacific to Mountain Time effective May 13. The public had not yet received the order. Commission Chairman B M Sweeley expected mailed notification to Boise soon. Also noted, Mrs Nora Cleveland of St Charles was a Paris visitor on Wednesday.
