The 4-H Gender Training meetings are scheduled for May 1st at 10 a.m. in Montpelier City Hall. The program covers 1943 achievements, 1944 goals, judging for state champions, nutrition and clothing projects, canning and victory garden work, wartime club practices, and county 4-H activities with sessions led by A. Mrs Josephine Dougan Dies After Ill Health
Mrs. Josephine Dougan aged 68 died Monday afternoon at Montpelier Hospital after nearly three years of failing health. She had recently stayed at the Paris Hotel and was bedfast for three days before death. Surviving is Sgt Jack Dougan in Canada with the U S Army and her husband John Dougan who was killed by an auto about eight years ago. The Dougan family moved to Paris twenty years ago buying the Hotel Paris which Mrs Dougan ran until selling last year. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Fourth 4-H Girls Record Contest Seeks State O Girl
The 22nd National 4-H Girls Record Contest will determine Idaho’s all around 4-H club girl for 1944. County winners receive Montgomery Ward gold plated medals, with the top scorer earning a trip to Chicago for the National Club Congress and eligibility for $200 college scholarships. Last year’s state winner was Betty LaVeughn-Bolls Roberts.

Paris Man Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in Marines
Paris resident Jaussi tet Bae San Jaussi of Paris has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps and is training at Quantico Virginia. The 25 year old son of Mr and Mrs John Jaussi, he attended Utah State Agricultural College then transferred to Colorado College last July under the Marine Corps College Training program. Lt Jaussi has a brother William serving in the Navy.
