SGT LLOYD PASSEY FREEDFROM GERMAN PRISON

Word reached Friday that 1st Sergeant Lloyd J Passey was liberated from Stalag VIII A in Germany on April 13. He enlisted in 1942 and trained at Camp Forrest, Ft Jackson, and Camp Atterbury, later going overseas in 1944. After time in England he went to the Belgium Bulge front, was missing in action, and later identified as a prisoner before his release and return toward home. He is son of Mrs G H Passey and husband of Gwen Rich Passey, with eight siblings including Mrs Ralph Rich of Paris and Mrs L Burdette Pugmuire of St Charles.

Idaho Third Annual Purebred Sheep Sale Set for Sept 20

Idaho's third annual purebred sheep sale will be held September 20 at Tautphaus Park Idaho Falls. Sponsored by the Idaho Purebred Sheep Breeders association the 1945 event offers one of the larger listings of registered sheep in the United States along with stud and range rams. Bear Lake Opens to Fishing May First Across Idaho Utah

Fishing begins in several Idaho areas on May 1 ahead of the trout season. Bear Lake opens May 1 to December 15 under a reciprocal agreement allowing Idaho or Utah fishers to angling trout. Daily limits include 18 to 20 fish or 15 pounds with one in possession. no more than five trout under six inches per day or possession.

Soda Springs Marine Re lives to His Pal's Surprise

A Soda Springs marine reappears to surprise a buddy who believed Pfc Red Palmer was dead at Peleliu. Sgt Vic Kalman sent a release recounting a wartime encounter where a gravely wounded Palmer survived after being presumed killed, returning with shrapnel and tales of missing in action.

Mary Parker Wed Elwyn Carver in Salt Lake Temple

Mrs Lula Parker of Bloomington announces the marriage of her daughter Mary to Set Elwyn E. Carver of Plain City Utah. The ceremony took place in the Salt Lake Temple on April 26. State Bounty Begins May 1 on Coyotes Cats and Cougars

New Rates Set Up for Dairy Feed Subsidy Payments

War Food Administration announces dairy feed subsidy rates for Bear Lake county for April to June. Whole milk pays 60c per hundredweight in April, then 25c in May and June. Butterfat pays 17c per pound in April, then 10c in May and June. Applications for January to March subsidies are due in May at the Montpelier AAA office. Payments are quarterly, within thirty days after each quarter ends. Future rates to be announced later.
