Paris voters cast 107 ballots amid snow and rain with Mayor Van Ness Wallentine winning 106 votes and councilman Thomas Caldwell also topping the ticket. Officials noted low turnout and partial unofficial tallies across wards.

Miss Gene Perkins daughter of Mr and Mrs Alma Perkins of Fish Haven wed Mr Mitton Niederhauser in the Logan Temple on April 20. The couple were accompanied by the bride’s parents and Mrs Owen R Stock and Mrs Ernest S Howell. A wedding dinner followed at the Niederhauser residence hosted by the groom’s parents. The newlyweds will reside in Logan.
Superintendent Earl Bonham announces Fielding High School 1945 graduates with Rhea Spencer as valedictorian and Lynn Austin as salutatorian. Bruce Stucki and Dale Richards win leadership awards, Ilene Ward earns the Readers Digest Award, and other honors go to listed students.
Blue velvet draperies were installed in the three large windows of Fielding High School auditorium. The project was funded by remaining Fieldonian yearbook and Searchlight paper advertising funds with support from the valley business community. Fieldonian staff and Searchlight staff members along with the athletic department coordinated the effort.
Herman van Kammerath, 78, father of E Ryan Kammerath of Montpelier, died at his Salt Lake City home last Friday. Funeral services were held Monday in Gat Lake. His widow, four sons and two daughters survive.
Mr and Mrs Van Nelson and their son with Miss Rosamond and Mary Jean Nelson joined Junior Johnson and Wendell Christensen of Pocatello visiting over the weekend in Bloomington and St Charles.
Ten men were forwarded to Fort Douglas Utah on April 17 for induction into the armed forces. Names include Doyle J Matthews Liberty volunteer Navy Army Merrill M Crane Bennington Forrest H Closner Montpelier Milos Dayton Dingle Keith P Crane Bennington Lyle A Bissegger Montpelier Wyrin W Orr Lanark Allen I Stephens Montpelier Jack R Crane Bennington transferred from Burley to Marine Reed L Jensen Fish Haven transferred from Wyoming board assigned to Army.
Fielding High School organized a Thespian Dramatic Club with 25 members from the upper classes aiming for National Thespian status. Officers include Bruce Stucki president and Donna Wilks vice president, as the club seeks a charter and certificates. The school play Nothing But the Truth directed by Superintendent Bonham and Selah Wilhelmsen drew strong audiences in two performances.
Mr Lyle Caldwell of Soda Springs called at the Thomas Caldwell home Sunday. Wilford Lewin and friends visited over the weekend. Mesdames Liza Cook and Emily Rich travel to Bravo after months at Mesa. Paris attendees at Montpelier funeral. Temple excursion in Logan included several couples. Ray Reeder picked up family in Brigham City. Rexburg visitors seen in town, Wilford Richards hosted in Logan. Jesse Scheidegger honored at a birthday supper with family. Friday Bridge club met. Dortha Hann won high score and guests were served.
Mrs. Lizzie Budge Pendrey 75, early Bear Lake Valley resident, died Tuesday April 17 in Montpelier hospital. Born February 26, 1870 in Providence Utah, she moved to Paris as a child and later to Montpelier. She served as LDS Primary president in Paris, led the Relief Society in Montpelier for 14 years, and captained the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She is survived by three children and many siblings. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Montpelier 2nd ward chapel with the F M Williams Mort in charge.
Mr and Mrs Ivan Beck hosted a dinner at their home last week in honor of Mr C C Stock of Fish Haven celebrating his 77th birthday. Attendees included Mrs Thomas Hartney of McCammon and several couples from Montpelier Garden City Noonan and Fish Haven.
The Disabled American Veterans explain that the gold plated button marks a veteran who served in World War II and may be disabled. The DAV urges public awareness and notes Congress recognizes the button as a symbol for veterans eligible for free or reduced services.
Rich County Utah led the district by surpassing its Red Cross War Fund quota. The county’s quota was 61400 and the total raised reached 2200.34, beating the target by 800.34. Wear Fund chairman Mrs Josephine Lamborn thanks committees and residents for strong support. Population 1600.
A vocal quintet named the Quintones has entertained front line troops in the Philippine area. Sgt Weldon Cole, arranger and member, from Paris, Idaho, studied music at the University of Idaho. Members include Ralph Drollinger George Ackerland Al Villereal and Frank Magliocco from Salt Lake City. Cole is a new father to Carole Lee born to him but unseen.
The Bear Lake Stake Music Committee announces the Stake Chair will present a musical Sunday evening April 29 at 8 30 in the tabernacle. The concert lasts about one hour with choir numbers and special numbers by accomplished musicians. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
Spent weekends and visits noted from Pocatello Montpelier Rexburg and Smoot with church speakers Paul Spence Rex Cook Alfred Howell Lewis Pugmire Elna Brown and C H Peterson. Furloughing Lt Collings Mediterranean duty and visits by Mrs Nina Floyd Mr and Mrs A C Birt and Francis Duffin are listed with family ties and cousins. The Gewing club gathered with several ladies served refreshments.

Fielding High school will feature two lyceum programs in May. On May 1 the Hardiman Duo performs at 11 a.m. followed by the Hanley Marionettes presenting Snow White on May 8. Admission is 10c for students, 15c for elementary students, and 25c for adults.
A Monday night gathering honored all the Stake Missionaries. Guests included Mrs Lena Caldwell Mr Clifford Price and Mr Leslie Bolton. The program featured a prayer by Clifford Price readings by Maria Cole jokes by Thomas Caldwell a song by Arthur Bloom and talks by Stake Missionary President Harold Johnson David Parker and Leng Caldwell.
The Rainbow Rod and Gun Club announces a dance Friday evening at the Paris pavilion with Hugh Shepherd orchestra. Prizes for ticket holders total about a hundred, valued over $500, and tickets may be entered without the purchaser present.
The F F A drive closed April 24 with Worth Dborn's team winning 73 025 to 57 850. Total pests killed reached 1 765 including 601 squirrels 360 sparrows 190 magpies 531 mice 7 rabbits 5 gophers 2 rock ducks and 1 coyote. Alvin Curless led with 18 200 points Theil Parker 12 675. The contest ran March 12 with strong youth participation and the losing side will host a party for the winners.
Mr and Mrs A E Smith of Tooele Utah announce the engagement of their daughter Jessie Mecham to S Sergeant Charles H Eller US Marine Corps son of Mr and Mrs Chas F Eller of Laketown Utah. Sgt Eller enlisted November 19 1939 served 36 months overseas three campaigns Bougainville Guam two years in Asiatic Pacific and one year in the European theatre. He will return to the Marine Base San Diego Calif for an indef inite period. Miss Mecham resides in Vernal Utah employed by the Extension Service.
