Mayor Dan Rich issues call for mass meeting at the county courthouse Friday evening. Residents of Paris urged to be present as candidates for the upcoming election to be held on April 25.
Utah State college student Grant Rich visits family in town while mayor and Mrs. Rich host. Bear Lake Montpelier salesman Winlter Rohner attends county seat business. Marriage license issued to Ruth Jenkins and Thomas Hansen of Garden City. Dr Gurliss of Fish Haven visits town. Wallentine family of Logan welcome baby girl born Sunday March 26. Montpelier merchant A E Thorpe and Tom Whittle mentioned in local notices. Major operation for Mrs Whittle at Montpelier hospital. condition reported hopeful. Various county accounts and district fair related items noted.
Denver vealers priced at 8.35 to 8.85 per hundredweight and cattle 6. Fed heifers in Los Angeles listed as medium to good. Sheep in Ogden show truck-in lambs, Denver truck-in fat lambs at 8.25 to 9.85. Prices also note values 7.2 and 9.25.
Mrs Ema Gregirson 22 mother of three was treated for a broken back after an auto driven by Mrs Ann Lowe swerved and rolled 1.5 times on US highway 1 near Downey. Eight people including five children suffered bruises shocks and lacerations. The Lowe drive and family were en route to celebrate Thomas Durant's 90th birthday in Franklin.
The Utah Power and Light company will sponsor an electric service and cooking school at Paris Second ward chapel on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. A special $25 floor lamp will be awarded to the ward registering the most members in attendance.
The Paris Second ward held its annual basketball tournament at Emerson gym. Eight teams formed from M- Men and their five teammates competed over four nights. Lymian Sparks led his team to first place, Harold Jaussi’s squad finished third, with Jaci’s team second.

State traffic officers warn motorists that 1938 plates expire at midnight Friday. Many older plates in the county still in use face enforcement. Drivers must renew to avoid fines for operating vehicles with old plates.
Paris Idaho's Bear Lake Stake history notes the 1863 settlement by Latter-day Saints led by Charles Rich, its two Paris wards and nine chapels, the stake tabernacle, and a fire loss to the Meding Academy in 1928. It covers ward history from 1877 to 1922 and the 1930 parish population.
The Bear Lake Annual Homecoming and Pioneer Day will be held July 24 in Paris. Plans were begun at a Hotel Paris meeting with civic clubs including Lions and American Legion represented. S. Sieight chairs the main committee with Fenton Allred, W. Smith Hoge as secretary and Edwin T. Shepherd as treasurer. Sub committees will be named next week with talk of extending the celebration to two days.
Notable interest grows in range development under the 1939 program. Checks were mailed to ranch operators who qualified in 1938. Popular practices include natural reseeding by deferred grazing spring development for water, and artificial reseeding of mountain land. A bulletin on insect control measures for vegetables is available, stressing wintering sites and fall work for eradicating pests, plus costs of insecticides and spraying equipment.
The Emerson school will present the Indian operetta Dawn Boy on Wednesday April 5 in the Second Ward hall at 8 o clock. Admission is free and all are invited to attend.
