Stake Quarterly Conference Held at Bear Lake Tabernacle
The Bear Lake Stake held its quarterly conference in the Paris tabernacle with President W L Rich presiding. Visiting elders from Salt Lake, Joseph F Smith Jr and Joseph W McMurrin attended. The session opened with singing and prayers, speakers included Roy A Welker and others praising gospel blessings and priesthood, with reports on ward and auxiliary activities and high attendance.

Black Named Republican Candidate for Idaho Attorney General
Ezra R. Whitla announced attorney B K Black of Kootea county would seek the Republican nomination for Idaho Attorney General at the next fall primary. Black’s candidacy reflects Kootea county pride as a major Republican stronghold. If endorsed, Black is expected to face little opposition, strengthening the Northern Idaho position on the state ticket.

Brief History of Aged Pioneer Thomas Sleight
Thomas Sleight, born September 25 1833 in Lincolnshire England, died March 17 1918 at his Paris Idaho home. He joined the LDS Church at seventeen and helped settle Bear Lake Valley after early trials in Genoa Nebraska and Utah's bootstrapped frontier. He served in the Nauvoo Legion, was a county commissioner, early public school teacher, and a devoted church leader who blessed Saints in Bear Lake Stake and conducted missions in England.
