Idaho Voters Urged for Third Liberty Loan Drive Start

The third Liberty loan drive opens Saturday April 8 designated National Win-The-War Day by Governor Alexander. Idaho counties mobilize to meet a state quota of about 9 million dollars with district goals totaling 210 million across Idaho. Citizens urged to subscribe generously and prepare to meet solicitors on opening day to keep Idaho at the head of states furnishing funds for the war effort.

First Lieut. Robert L. Nourse Jr of Boise Idaho led a section of the American Ambulance Service on the French front and earned the Croix de Guerre for bravery under fire and devotion to duty. He suffered burns from gas shells yet continued directing evacuations during a January 12 1918 reconnaissance.

Fire at the Nelson and Ricks cream station last Monday night consumed most contents including cream eggs harness and farm tools. Initial 8 30 p m alarm then another at 2 a m rekindled flames with volunteers fighting until 5 a m when total loss declared. Building owned by Paul Strobelt and stock not insured. Also notes the death of Dr Robert Sutton's two year old son from pneumonia and list of relatives attending the funeral in Paris and Garfield.
