County-wide effort boosts funds for Boy Scouts as waste paper prices in Montpelier Idaho enable profitable collection. Residents are asked to tie bundles under 50 pounds with binder twine and sort materials into four categories for pickup, with guaranteed prices for 30 days and collection days to be announced.

The Office of Price Administration extended stamp validity to ease shortages. Red stamps worth 60 points become usable every two weeks on Sundays, blue stamps worth 50 points usable on the first day of each month. Now stamps may be used over a window of 10 to 12 weeks to curb last minute buying.

The Bear Lake and Montpelier Districts of the Boy Scouts plan a four day University of Scouting from March 29 to April 1. Oscar A. Kirkham will attend the opening session to address and meet local leaders. Sessions will take place at Bear Lake tabernacle Montpelier High School Emerson School and Montpelier High School with certificates awarded at the close.
Robert Clayton was hired as superintendent of Emerson Grade School in Paris for next year by the school board. Mrs Clayton will join the Emerson faculty next year while both teach at Liberty school this year. The board plans an eight teacher staff next year and will finalize other assignments later.
Calvin Stevens returned home early last week to visit his parents Mr and Mrs Rayford Stevens. He recently earned his wings as a gunner and is set to report March 81st to Lincoln Nebraska for advanced training.

Lt. and Mrs. Earl G. Hofer and their baby visited in St. Charles and Paris with relatives after Lt. Hofer returned from Great Britain where he completed 25 bombing missions as a bombardier. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and Oak Leaf Clusters and an additional air medal. Mrs. Hofer, formerly Joyce Welker of Paris, is accompanying him as they travel to St. George, Utah to visit relatives.
Miss Alice Rigby of the District Home Demonstration department will test pressure cookers in Montpelier and Fleming high schools March 28 29 and 30. Tests start March 28 at Montpelier High School then Fleming High School at 9 am March 30. Bring the entire cooker with rack and clean the pet cock and safety valve before testing.
