Your Soil Bank Account and Crop Nutrient Loss

Farmers must replace nutrients removed by crops to maintain yields. A hundred bushels of corn remove about 140 pounds of nitrogen, 50 pounds of phosphate, and 135 pounds of potash per acre, while other crops like wheat alfalfa and cotton draw similar amounts. Use soil tests and county recommendations with commercial fertilizer to restore the balance and sustain profits.
