Two Bear Lake Youths Arrested in SLC for Marijuana Possession
Two Bear Lake County juveniles, ages 16 and 17 from Montpelier and St. Charles, were arrested in a Salt Lake City motel on possession charges. A hotel manager alerted police during a suspected credit card irregularity. Officers found a smoldering cigarette and an unlit cigarette in the room. The youths were taken to Juvenile Detention Center and later released to their parents.

Cub Scouts Sell Cakes At Lion Tourney
The Paris Bloomington Cub Scouts will auction cakes between games at the Paris Lions Independent Basketball tournament starting tonight at the Junior High gym. Proceeds buy equipment for the newly organized Cub Pack. The event runs through Saturday evening.

Red Letter Day Set for March 23 at Montpelier LDS Stake Center
Seminary Red Letter Day will be held March 23 at the Montpelier LDS Stake Center with about 300 tri state area students expected. Dr. Quinn McKay of Weber State College will speak and UDSSA students will perform entertainment. Montpelier hosts a banquet with attendees from Laketown Randolph Afton Cokeville Soda Springs Grace Bancroft and others.

The book Histories of Bear Lake Pioneers has gone to press and will be available after April 1. Mrs. Darwin Haddock reports much of the money from book orders remains unpaid and the DUP must collect the total due before delivery of the 900 page volume.

Thelma Browning dies. rites in Paris Logan
Funeral services were held Monday at 1 00 pm at the Paris LDS Wards Chapel for Thelma Browning 67 a former Paris resident. She was born in Paris Feb 14 1901 and attended Utah Agricultural College in Logan. Interment was in Paris Cemetery.

Obituary and funeral rites for Mrs Arnell in St Charles Cemetery
The service included preludes and postludes by Colleen Wilkes and the Bloomington Quart et with Paul Haddock Hulme Dunford and Charles Hulme. Pres. Arlin Pugmire gave the invocation and Pres. N Burdette Pugmire spoke as Bp Jamey Transtrum gave the benediction. The grave was dedicated by Presley Floyd with pallbearers Rex Darwin Oral Wilbur Fenton and Farrel Arnell. Interment followed at St Charles Cemetery.

Montpelier soldier earns praise for defense at Long Binh
Amy Glen of Montpelier 22 son of Mr and Mrs Glen took part in the defense of II Field Force headquarters during a night attack on Long Binh. Two battalions of North Vietnamese and Viet Cong assaulted from nearby hamlet. headquarters area remained secure with one US death and 12 wounded while the attackers lost over 1,000. Lt Gen Weyand lauded the defenders and urged continued vigilance at the headquarters.

Junior High Seminary Kicks Off Campaign
Eighth graders from Bear Lake Junior High Paris were guests at the Seminary building by ninth grade students. They were offered refreshments and invited to register for Seminary classes when enrolling next fall. A district wide campus registration drive will occur at both secondary schools. Seminary officers stressed timely registration and scheduling next fall and welcomed new LDS simulants to join the Seminary classes.
