The annual South eastern Idaho District Home Demonstration Convention will be in Blackfoot on March 25. Deputy Defense Director Visits County on February 21
James R Imper Deputy Director Boise C D office met with county commissioner Walter Ward and county director to inspect the south end of the state. Bear Lake County has two approved shelters in Montpelier canyon and Georgetown canyon with a lease on the Cumberland tunnel. Willis G Nelson superintendent of schools permitted use of schools to distribute defense pamphlets. Federal Engineers from Walla Walla Washington will inspect shelters in the next sixty days. In Grace Idaho district FFA scrapbook contest Fielding team won top honors and advances to state in Meridian March 27-29 with about 12 other chapters participating.

The Fielding Spartans lost their first two state tournament games. On March 7 they were defeated by Middleton 72 to 67, and on March 8 they lost to Grangeville 62 to 58. A full-season games list and scores appear on page three.

New Music Teacher Joins Fielding School
Lynn Bennett has joined Fielding as the new band and chorus teacher. A Preston Idaho native and Utah State University graduate, he sang in ensembles and operas, led the Maestro Singers, and taught vocal music after graduation. He is married with two sons and enjoys hunting and fishing. He praised Fielding students for being cooperative and promising in the music program.

Paris Lions Club Holds Regular Meeting Monday
The Paris Lions Club met at Camp Lifton on Monday night to watch Utah State play Arizona State on a TV provided by Coach Hobbs. Annual Red Cross Roll Call Planned in Bear Lake County
Bear Lake County chapter of the American Red Cross will conduct its annual roll call March 18 to 31 with volunteers visiting homes and businesses. A one dollar contribution grants membership and supports local welfare, first aid, water safety, and summer recreation programs. Funds also aid the Idaho State Blood Bank and national drives. Weekend visitors included Alfred Rogers and family of Bear Lake and others from Ogden and Bountiful.

FHS Girls to Compete in Miss Bear Lake Pageant
Three Fielding High School girls Marian Hart Enid Jo Nordgran and Janet Hymas will be contestants in the Miss Bear Lake Pageant set for April 15 at Bear Lake County. Sponsored by Gertsch Market Western Auto and Tri-State Inc they vie for 1963 Miss Bear Lake and a chance to advance to Miss Idaho and Miss America pageants with judging on talent personality swimsuit and evening gown.

The Bear Lake Rangers held their annual pot luck supper on Saturday night with many members and guests present. A movie was shown for entertainment and plans were laid for the annual Fourth of July celebration.
