Fielding FFA Parliamentary Team Captures First in District
On March 1 the Fielding FFA Parliamentary Procedure and Public Speaking teams competed at Marsh Valley High School. The parliamentary team led by chairman Chad Pugmire plus Carl Beck Sterling Rich Jaren Pugmire Spencer Stucki Wyndon Ward defeated West Side and Montpelier after a thirty question test and a live exhibit. Chad Pugmire placed third in public speaking with peers from Malad Preston Montpelier Grace North Gem and Marsh Valley. Pete Mabbe North Gem won first and Spence Floyd Grace second. Judges questioned each speaker for five minutes after eight to ten minute talks.

State FFA officers visit local chapter in Paris Idaho
On March 1 two Idaho State FFA officers Dennis Jenkins vice president from Rigby and Jay Callister state reporter from Blackfoot visited the Paris high school chapter. They spoke at a 1 30 pm meeting and accompanied the parliamentary team to Mash Valley contests. Overnight hosts were Spencer Stucks and Chad Pugmiro. they left for West Side the next morning.

Idaho conservation camp to open at Alpine in 1961
The second Idaho conservation camp for older boys will be at Alpine through May 31 to June 7, 1961, run by the University of Idaho extension service. Sixty boys attended last year and enrollment is expected to grow. The program covers soil and water conservation, forests, range, wildlife, and resource management careers with field hikes and a Palisades dam visit.
