Bear Lake county faces a shortfall in the Seventh War Loan drive as A. E. Thiel reports sales at $97,650.50 of E bonds, about 52 percent of the $186,000 target. Total bond sales reach $177,650.60 with roughly $115,000 still needed to meet the $293,000 overall quota.
Mr and Mrs Augustus Peterson of St Charles hosted a family reunion drawing many relatives. Attendees included Leslie W Peterson and daughters Nanipa Idaho Errie Peterson Spokane and others from Ogden Utah Idaho Falls Los Angeles and Montpelier. A dinner followed on Saturday and a Sunday family dinner with about twenty guests.
Mercy T. Keetch of St. Charles died Tuesday afternoon at 4 o clock at the old Keetch home where she lived most of her life. She had suffered long with illness and in recent years resided with her brother William Keetch and family. Funeral services are planned in the St. Charles ward chapel.
The meeting on June 15 was led by president Connie Jean Cheney. Rose Kears demonstrated Table Etiquette. Four vegetable dishes were prepared by the girls. Edith Barley attended as an avisit or. Officers present included Marjorie Robinson as vice president and organist, Merle Thomas as secretary and treasurer, and Cheney as reporter.
Mr and Mrs David L Bolton of Paris report their son Cpl Walter L Bolton wed Lorene Childress daughter of Rev and Mrs A L Childress of Corona California on June 9 at the bride’s home. Bridesmaid was the bride’s younger sister and Bob Rutherford served as best man. The couple will reside in California.
Miss Claree Smedley sails for Ogden for an indefinite stay while Smith Wallaetine visits Paria D C. Rich travels to Lewiston for a county superintendent meeting. Families, friends, and visitors from Berkeley to Salt Lake, Pocatello, Magna, Paris, and Athens gather across Utah and nearby states.
Superintendent Earl C Bonham reports Fielding High has secured most faculty for the fall term with one athletic coach position still open. The listed teachers include Bonham biology and speech Rich social science Grandy math and science Sparks English and girls physical education Richards library Burton commercial Bonham home economics Hart English and wood work Hart agriculture Barrus music Beck office secretary. The school opens September 10 1945.
Augusta Bunderson of St Charles celebrated her birthday anniversary June 6 with light refreshments and entertainment for relatives and friends. Many gifts were received and a large group attended, including Hilda Peterson and numerous Bunderson relatives from across Utah.
Graveside services were held in Paris cemetery for Kiggie Wilcox Oakey born December 14 1876 at Paris Idaho and died June 13 in Salt Lake City Utah. Survived by sons Venice and Lewis Oakey daughters two. Her husband Joseph G Oakey died 1922 at Ogden.

War price and rationing boards in the Idaho OPA district resumed home canning sugar issuance with a nine pound per person interim allowance for June July and August. After September first certificates for excess sugar will be mailed to those who have already received more than nine pounds.

Ronald Thornock U S Navy stationed at Naval Air Station Seattle Washington advanced to Chief Petty Officer. He enlisted March 19 1941 and spent forty two months overseas aboard the USS Enterprise. He participated in 29 major sea battles. He is the son of Mr and Mrs James Thornock of Bloomington.
Laketown, Utah native Glendon A. Barker, Private First Class in the Infantry, earned a War Department citation dated May 11, 1945, for heroism on April 28 in the Po Valley Italy. He found his command post amid river crossing dangers and sniper fire delivering critical messages with courage and skill.
Idaho collectors announce the new five dollar Automobile Use Tax Stamps are on sale at post offices and IRS field offices starting June 9 1945. Motorists must display the stamp on the vehicle from July 1 1945 with penalties for noncompliance.
Mr and Mrs William Stucks returned home Friday after a visit in California. Palmer Tueller working at Grays Lake spent the weekend in Paris with family. Mr and Mrs Hubert Jacobson of Ogden and Mrs Nellie Jacobson of Idaho Falls spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs Jesse Lewis. Mrs Jacobson has been visiting the past two weeks in Ogden with her son Hubert and daughter Arff Shepherd.
The Eleventh Quorum of Seven ties and partners held their annual party and outing at Paris Canyon Park last Thursday evening. A pot-luck supper was served. On June 12 at 3 o clock at the home of Mr and Mrs James T Brown in Pocatello Miss Wilma Dean daughter of Mr and Mrs Guy H Dean of Paul Idaho became the bride of S/Sgt Daurel W Transtrum son of Mr and Mrs Whitey J Transtrum of St Charles Idaho The ceremony was performed by Bishop Martin of the First Wend L D church in Pocatello The couple will honeymoon in Utah and the groom will report back to duty at Santa Ana California on June 30 The bride previously worked as a beauty operator at Pocatello and Set Transtrum has served in the Eighth Army Air Force
Mrs Louisa Smedley of Boise arrived for an indefinite visit. Keith Warner and family visited Guid Colorado from Thursday to Monday. LeVon Parken of Montpelier and Mr and Mrs Newell Lewis left for a two week fishing trip. S/Sgt Kay Rich returned after serving with the European war in Italy. Daughters of Utah Pioneers Camp Mgabeth plan a June meeting at Mrs Mary A Lewis’s home. Mr and Mrs Clifford Hansen of Montpelier visited the Hoge home. their children returned home with them. Nord H and his brother Pfc Gene Jacobson, both in Europe for nine months, met May 30 in Hammerau, Germany.
The Bear Lake County Airport will be officially dedicated on Wednesday afternoon, June 27, announced by Jesse McClellan, president of the Montpelier Chamber of Commerce. The event is tied to a bond rally with invitations to state and local officials, military officers, and aviation staff. No admission will be charged. an open-air dance at Montpelier fair grounds will follow free, and most businesses will close for the afternoon.
Second Lieutenant Nard D. Jacobson of the 823rd Tank Destroyer Battalion is awarded the Bronze Star for heroism and service from June 24, 1944, to March 31, 1945, in France Belgium Holland and Germany. He led his platoon under heavy fire and during the Rhine drive destroyed three enemy tanks, with minimal own losses.
Mr and Mrs Léo Mattson and Mr and Mrs Rex Mattson visited Salt Lake City last week to consult specialists about Mrs Leo Mattson health.
Mrs Lucy Poulsen, Mr Louis Poulsen and Mrs Lavaugh Rasmussen arrived Sunday from Salt Lake. Mr Poulsen returned home Monday accompanied by his wife who had been visiting a week at the William Stouk home.
