Bear Lake county faces a shortfall in the Seventh War Loan drive as A. E. Thiel reports sales at $97,650.50 of E bonds, about 52 percent of the $186,000 target. Total bond sales reach $177,650.60 with roughly $115,000 still needed to meet the $293,000 overall quota.

St Charles Family Reunion Draws Kin From Far Sides

Mr and Mrs Augustus Peterson of St Charles hosted a family reunion drawing many relatives. Attendees included Leslie W Peterson and daughters Nanipa Idaho Errie Peterson Spokane and others from Ogden Utah Idaho Falls Los Angeles and Montpelier. A dinner followed on Saturday and a Sunday family dinner with about twenty guests.

Mercy Keetch Dies After Ill Health in St. Charles

Mercy T. Keetch of St. Charles died Tuesday afternoon at 4 o clock at the old Keetch home where she lived most of her life. She had suffered long with illness and in recent years resided with her brother William Keetch and family. Funeral services are planned in the St. Charles ward chapel.

Navy man advanced to chief petty officer

Ronald Thornock U S Navy stationed at Naval Air Station Seattle Washington advanced to Chief Petty Officer. He enlisted March 19 1941 and spent forty two months overseas aboard the USS Enterprise. He participated in 29 major sea battles. He is the son of Mr and Mrs James Thornock of Bloomington.

Laketown Boy Receives War Dept Citation for Heroic Action

County Airport Dedication Set for Next Wednesday

The Bear Lake County Airport will be officially dedicated on Wednesday afternoon, June 27, announced by Jesse McClellan, president of the Montpelier Chamber of Commerce. The event is tied to a bond rally with invitations to state and local officials, military officers, and aviation staff. No admission will be charged. an open-air dance at Montpelier fair grounds will follow free, and most businesses will close for the afternoon.

Jacobson of the 823rd Tank Destroyer Battalion is awarded the Bronze Star for heroism and service from June 24, 1944, to March 31, 1945, in France Belgium Holland and Germany.
