New Supt Named To Lifton Pumping Plant Post

Paul M. Rasmussen promoted to superintendent of the Lifton Pumping Plant on Bear Lake for Utah Power and Light Co. He succeeds E. P. Cleveland who retires July 1 after 39 years with the company. Rasmussen joined UP&L in 1945 as an operator at the city generating plant in Utah. He later held roles at the Sigurd Substation near Richfield and other assignments before his latest promotion.

Minnetonka Cave Opens June 17 In Idaho

Minetonka Cave in southeastern Idaho will open June 17 with guided tours daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Labor Day. A 50 cent entrance fee applies for ages over six. The cave, nine miles west of St. Charles on Cache National Forest, drew about 5500 visitors last year.

Bloodmobile to visit Montpelier June 28

The Red Cross Bloodmobile will visit A. J. Winters School in Montpelier on Wednesday June 28 from 2 to 6 p.m. Residents aged 18 to 60 are urged to donate to reach a 160 pint summer quota. The article notes stored derivatives extend blood's usable life beyond transfusions.

Sipe selected for National Defense Education Act English institute

Miss Diané Pittaiay Vaaugn, daughter of Mr and Mrs Grant Findlay of Fish Haven, has been chosen to attend a six week National Defense Education Act Institute in English at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Transportation board and room and tuition paid. The June 24 to August 6 program focuses on oral English teaching and awards seven graduate credits.

Barthborn Wins Fellowship to U of Washington

Barthborn formerly of Ovid and a German instructor at Twin Falls High School will join the University of Washington next year as an Experienced Teacher Fellow pursuing a Master of Arts in German. The award covers stipend, dependents, allowances, and free tuition, funded by the US Office of Education among 70 nationwide programs for German teachers.

Tri County Horse Clinic Slated Next Weekend

The fourth annual University of Idaho Horsemen's Clinic will be held at Bear Lake County Fair Grounds in Montpelier on June 28 and 24. Extension agent Ed Duren says basic equitation and dressage will be emphasized with Mrs. Stanton B Coffin of Coupeville as an organizer.

Two Day Horse Clinic Offers Dressage and Jumping Demonstrations

Mrs Dorothy Peth will ride to demonstrate a basic dressage test and how to use low jumps to improve rhythm and stride. A packing session for horses joins two days of clinics with fees for adults 6 dollars for both days, 3 dollars for one. Youths pay 3 dollars for two days, 2 dollars for one day. Funeral Rites for Bertha Kearl Held in Laketown

Funeral services for Bertha Lamiborn Kearl 79 lifelong Laketown resident were held at the Laketown LDS Ward Chapel after she died June 1 while visiting Cleveland Utah. She was born September 6 1887 to Edwin G and Melinda W Lamborn and married Willis 72 Kearl September 15 1909. Survivors include two sons four daughters and six grandchildren and the family prayer was offered by Lawrence D Lamborn.
