County shows little progress in buying bonds for the 7th War Loan Drive. Officials urge residents to dig deep and purchase bonds even if it hurts as community tabulations list early week totals.
Reports indicate Bear Lake County is the only section in the area receiving persistent rain. An overcast sky has lasted almost three weeks with rain falling at many times day and night, and residents hope for sun soon.
Miss Norma Lewis returns to Blackfoot after spending a week with her parents. She is accompanied home by her sister Flora who will stay for two weeks.
Mrs. Jesse Scheidegger entertained at a delicious dinner Sunday. Invited guests included Mrs. Gertrude Hayes of Ogden, Mr and Mrs James Wiinham of Montpelier, and Mrs. Dean Bartschi.
The Sewing club gathered Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Fern Eborn. Refreshments were served to Mesdames Ira Lewis Alice Hansen Eva Birch Wonanna Nelson Yvonne Palmer Mildred Jacobsen and the hostess.
Logan residents Mr. Jesse P. Rich Mr. and Mrs Lyman Rich and family Mrs Geslie Shepherd and Miss Edith Rich Miss Naomi Rich of Provo Salt Lake City visitors Mr and Mrs forward Gunderson and family from Salt Lake City joined in Paris for Decoration Day observers.

Transferred out were Jack R Lane Salt Lake City and William J Nattress Potatello taken into the Army.
The OPA announced that B card holders may have rations increased effective June 11. A cards receive six gallons per coupon after June 2. B cards gain a 650 mile ceiling post June 11, with applications to be filed as for supplementary gasoline.
About fifty people attended a picture show Tuesday evening at the Novelty Theatre. Sponsored by the Nutrition class of the American Red Cross Paris Chapter, the program was felt to be worthwhile. Instructor Mrs. L. Cook expressed satisfaction with the undertaking.
Mrs Gart Finchamt of Soda Springs and Mrs Ira Peterson of Montpelier visited the Frank Athay home Monday, sharing hospitality during a local social gathering.
Mrs Mary Stucki arrived home Tuesday of last week after spending the winter in Rexburg at the Wendell Stucki home. She will spend most of the summer here.
Memorial Day visitors at the Frank Nye residence included Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Nye and family and Miss Carsey from Magna, Mrs. Diva Smith and son, Mr. and Mrs. Ora Kay Nye, Mrs. Ernes Nye and twins of Evenston, and Mr. and Mrs. James Nye with their daughter from Logan.
A baby girl was born May 28 to Mr and Mrs Art Adams of Salt Lake City. Mrs Adams formerly Wanda Hymas daughter of Mr and Mrs W D Hymas. Mrs Hymas is with her daughter in Salt Lake.
The Paris Lions Club held its annual election meeting at the Hotel Paris after a dinner. Officers elected include L. L. Deardorff as President A W Gheherd as 1st Vice President Earl C Bonham as 2nd Vice President VanNess Vallentine as 3rd Vice President J B Hann as Secretary Treasurer Fenton Alfred as Tail Twister Henry Sparks as Lion Tamer and several directors with terms of 1 or 2 years Retiring president W Smith Hoge presided. Lion Gherman Lowe announced extra display space in the Drug Store window for pictures of service members and the public may donate additional photos.
The Idaho fish and game department ordered 158 tons of stock for big game, three tons more than 1944. Some salt already delivered, some distributed, and the rest will be moved to high country by pack string this summer with U S Forest Service cooperation. Trucks serve roaded areas and nine tons were dropped by airplane at Kooskia to salt ranges.
Clyde Bacon, member of Idaho's Seventh War Loan state agricultural committee, appeals to farmers to subscribe to bonds. He highlights the sacrifices of service members, urges quick victory, and stresses feed, equipment, and supplies for fighting men, tying agriculture to national defense and timely support.

Mrs. Louise Seamons of Logan spent Tuesday through Saturday visiting the Land Ringle and Lester Allred Homes. She is a sister of Mr. Ringle and Mira Allred.
A Wednesday dinner at Walter Lawin home celebrated a birthday for Mr Lewis. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Hidon Lenin and families, Cyril Lorenzen and families from Ovid Minnesota and Idaho Falls residents Agnes Hraauér and Mise Maxifs with Lynn.
Ration details list stamps and validity from Book Four and Book Three. It covers meats fats sugar canning quotas with limits per person and application offices at The Paris Post Board of Offices. Gasoline coupons and airplane stamps are noted with issue and expiration dates.
Funeral services for the late John Kunz Jr were held Friday at 2 p m with Bishop Orlando N Kunz in charge. The service featured opening songs by a Bennington trio and remarks by multiple speakers. Interment followed in Bern cemetery with Bishop Alma Bachler dedicating the grave. Mr Kunz is survived by eight children, siblings and 18 grandchildren amid many attending out of town relatives.
Mrs Floyd Lewis spends a month on vacation with her husband stationed at LaJunta Army Air Field in LaJunta Colorado. They visit Mr Eldon Pugmire and Mrs Pugmire who are also there.
PFC David Widmer of the 6th Infantry Division received the Bronze Star Medal for heroism in combat on Luzon during a February assault. Amid a tank attack his litter squad helped evacuate wounded, while Widmer served with the medical detachment of the 20th Infantry Regiment. His sister Margaret Widmer resides in Geneva Idaho.
Wayne B Stucki trains the Kentucky Derby candidate Byrmabond for J K Houssels Las Vegas owner. Stucki may skip the June 9 Derby to protect the colt after a strong Keeneland Churchill meeting showing six furlongs in 1 12 4/5. Stucki also trains twelve other horses at Churchill Downs. he began racing as a youth and is the son of Will B Paris.
Roy Patterson of Blackfoot visited the Jensen home on Wednesday of last week and returned home Thursday accompanied by his wife and children who had been visiting for two weeks.
The Sheriff’s Office announces that all driver and chauffeur licenses expire on July 1 1945 and new licenses are available at the County Sheriff’s office. An agent will be at Montpelier City Hall from June 25 1 to 8 p.m. for public convenience, after which licenses must be bought at the Paris Sheriff’s office.
By direction of the President the Bronze Star Medal was awarded Pfc Gordon W Bolton Infantry Company C Armored Infantry Battalion for heroic action on April 17 1945 at Spock Holden Germany He sprinted through flames to rescue two injured men from a burning half track and administered first aid before guiding his squad to safety Bolton is the son of Mr and Mrs David Bolton of Paris Idaho.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game reports a May license surge with 21,882 resident, 876 non resident, and 171 ten day tour licenses sold, surpassing the 1944 May totals of 21,851 resident, 807 non resident, and 130 ten day licenses. Fay Bussard, license clerk, confirmed the record.
Miss Viola Lauritzen of Franklin is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lauritzen this week.
Mr and Mrs Weldon Nye and family of Magna spend Decoration Day at the M IH Collings and Frank Nye homes. Colonel Frank L Cole has been transferred from Woodrow Wilson General Hospital Staunton Va to Camp Atterbury Ind where he is commanding officer.

Members of the armed forces may apply on the fourth Monday of June 1945 to the County Commissioners for property tax exemption up to 1000 dollars if they own certain property limits. The county attorney notes exemption may apply to those who entered service after January 1 1945 and advises grants for men and women in service. Also mentions local residents visiting relatives in Pocatello and Dial Smith Hoge home.
Edith Kunz of Bern and Ethel Kimz of Montpelier visited the Hyrum Poulson home for Decoration Day. Also present were Mrs. Veda Lefend and daughter of Garfield and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lewis and family.
The Legion Auxillary gathered at Mrs. Amber Goebel’s home last week to spend the evening making aragans. Attending were Mesdames Vinnie Price Millian Beck Rose Humphreys Lauriel Athay Stella Jaussi Parallee Kendall and the hostess.
Mrs Bertha Hoge entertained her Montpelier bridge club Monday afternoon with Mrs Charles Innes presiding. After a close game a luncheon was served to Mesdames Seth Kinz Ellis Straw Wesley Baker I B Koresburg all of Montpelier Mrs Charles Innes Owen Shepherd John B Hoge Fred Klinke of Paris Mrs L L Deardorff of Camp Life ton and Mrs James Bruce of Pocatello.
