Idaho war bond champions will receive 12 inch replica Jeep prizes as incentives during the Seventh War Loan Drive. Ward M Canaday of Willys Overland Motors arranged the prizes with the U S Treasury and John A Schoon over Idaho War Finance committee. Thousands of these miniature jeeps have been distributed nationwide to veterans and convalescent centers.

Clarence Cook Dies in Garden City Utah at 55
Clarence Cook 55 of Garden City Utah died Tuesday in a Montpelier hospital after a May 29 illness. He served as bishop of the Garden City ward for seven years and held roles in YMMIA Sunday School and Utah politics. Survived by wife Ethel and children Maurine Jensen Sy Del Cook Dean Cook two grandchildren a brother and a sister. Funeral set for Saturday June 2 at 2 p.m. in the Garden City ward chapel.

S/Sgt Norland E Larsen joined wife and two children in a Grimmett building apartment Paris before heading to Santa Monica Qualif for further assignment. He served with the 8th Army Air Force in Europe and earned the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters. Larsen is part of the 490th Bombing Squadron which received a Presidential Citation. War Department reports Pvt Willard Thornock was liberated and back in American hands after being listed missing in action December 10 1944 in Europe. Staff Sergeant Dan Lyon is the first Bear Lake service member discharged under the new point system. A total of 109 points earned from four years in service, 41 months overseas, 8 campaigns, the Silver Star and badges, qualified him for discharge. Lyon served with the 161st Infantry Regiment and earned the Combat Infantryman badge and honors in the Pacific campaigns.
