Two Men Sentenced in Federal Court
Carlyla Bassett formerly of Sharon now in Pocatello was sentenced to three years in the Federal penitentiary at Florence Arizona for fraudulently increasing a check. Leonard Hawking, charged with transporting a stolen vehicle, was sentenced to 25 years in the federal penitentiary after allegedly taking a pickup from the Garth Carlsen Phillips 66 station in Paris.

Local Boy Hurt In Car Crash
Michael Pugmire son of Mr and Mrs Mark Pugmire of Paris was seriously injured Saturday night when a 1958 Ford pickup parked on a driveway was pushed onto the highway to be towed back to Paris. Max Perkins and Dorothy Howell collided with the Pugmire vehicle causing both cars to crash into a ditch. Michael suffered a broken leg and other injuries and was taken to Bear Lake hospital in Montpelier. Deputy Sheriff Bernard Wilks investigated.

Early Lake Season Produces Big Ones
Idaho records may be toppled by two catches this year a 51 pound plus mackinaw from Priest lake caught May 3 by Ken Hunter and a 42 pound 47 inch chinook from the Salmon river near Whitebird caught April 27 by Dick Ruark. All time Idaho records list a 51 pound Priest lake mackinaw and a 40 pound chinook dressed. Other world records include a 37 pound Kamloops rainbow from Pend Oreille lake and a 32 pound Dolly Varden from the same water.

Cadet Larry D. Budge, 21, son of Army Colonel Vernon M. Budge, will graduate June 7 from the U. S. Military Academy at West Point. He will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Infantry and receive a Bachelor of Science degree. Budge, a Rhodes Scholar-elect, had roles in hop and social committee, debate council, weight lifting, pistol and skeet clubs, and was a leader during his senior year at Hampton High School. His father serves with the Army in Germany.

Funeral Services for Woody Puckett Held
Funeral services for Woody J. Puckett were held at Matthews Mortuary. He was found face down in mud at the canal dike east of Paris, EB. Webb, a pathologist from Pocatello, reported death from cerebral hemorrhage. He is survived by his parents in Clarkston Washington and three sisters and two brothers.

Antibiotics Boost Milk Output in Dairy Cows
A. W. Werry reports that continuous low level antibiotics in antibiotic salt mixes raise daily milk production by about three quarters of a pound per cow. In a six state study of 2370 milking cows, results were consistent across herd sizes climates and management. He argues a six dollar return per one dollar spent and notes minimal extra labor.
