New Method to Profit from Low-Grade Idaho Phosphate
University of Idaho researchers Joseph Newton and Oscar Finkelburg report a low-cost process to concentrate low-grade phosphate rock. Grinding and desliming by water or air could produce a usable concentrate at 10 to 20 cents per ton, turning shale into a valuable six to twelve foot equivalent high-grade bed.
