Eastern Idaho State Fair set for September in Blackfoot
The Eastern Idaho State Fair will run September 9 to 13 in Blackfoot with a record $12 000 in prizes across more classifications. Counties including Bingham Bannock Bonneville Bear Lake Caribou Clark Franklin Jefferson Madison Oneida Power Teton and Fremont back the event. A major addition is a light horse class with several breeds plus cattle dairy and beef divisions, six wine breeds and market hogs. New classifications boost agriculture horticulture and flower sections and the 4 boys and girls club programs expand.

Under supervision of Willard H. Kunz and C. P. Maughn nearly all Montpelier businesses were sprayed with DDT for fly control. Cost was $1.50 per establishment. spraying occurred Tuesday 6 to 8 am with Max Haddock and assistants. Extension cites polio connection and recommends 50 percent wettable DDT for around homes and livestock. One spray lasts a month to six weeks. call 180 for service.

Heber Keetch Dies at 84 in St. Charles
Heber Charley Keetch 84 lifelong St. Charles resident died about 6 15 am Thursday at his family home after a fall broke his leg two weeks earlier. Born Grantsville Utah December 22 1864 he married Elizabeth Bennett April 1 1890 in Logan temple. Surviving widow three daughters Opal Pugmire Lovina Linford Zelda Wursten nine grandchildren five great grandchildren. Funeral Saturday 2 pm St. Charles ward chapel conducted by Bishop Arlin Pugmire. Burial in St. Charles cemetery.

A 4-H dairy judging tour in Bear Lake County last Tuesday drew 44 members from Bear Lake and Caribou counties.
