County Livestock Clubs Hold Field Day in Bear Lake County

The 4-H Livestock clubs of Bear Lake county held their field day on Thursday July 23 with L B Taylor and J W Barber judging. Participants came from Geneva Liberty Sharon and Fish Haven. Sidney Densley led in judging as fields visited Densley farm Sharon for a fitting and showing demonstration and Hampshire sheep. The group moved to Paris to judge hogs at Otto Rohner and evaluated beef cattle at J R Pugmire ranch and another Hampshire sheep class at Raymond Budge home. The day provided practical livestock judging instruction to the boys and leaders.

Idaho Legion Meet in Lewiston August 13 14 15

The Thirteenth American Legion convention will be held in Lewiston August 13 14 and 15 with Ralph T Duke O Neill national commander as honored guest and principal speaker. He will be made a Nez Perce Chief and will attend the opening public meeting banquet and national commander’s ball. In extreme heat across the inter mountain region wild and domestic animals gather at ranches as dry spells bite. The thermometer neared 100 degrees since July 10 before rain, springs run dry, irrigation water short, and hay crops and spring wheat face severe losses.

Demonstrators Joe Burgoyne of Bear Lake Motor Co and M Davis from Ford distributors in Salt Lake City visited Parla on Wednesday afternoon to showcase the new Ford school bus. The 157 inch wheel base chassis seats thirty two children plus the driver with a steel outer body and artificial leather interior.

Price Stucks 12 son of Mrs Mary L P Stucks died Sunday after an attack and surgery for strangulated hernia.
