The notice lists many candidates for the August 8 primary across districts including Warren Montpelier Csteg Ballots are ready. Voters may request absentee ballots or vote in person by election day, with addresses for military and eligible voters provided.
Local and personal notes record weekend visits and travel among residents. Chester Parker and family visited relatives. Charles Innes drove to Pocatello and back. Dorothy Tueller and Burton Suttor visited relatives in Washington. Lt Col and Mrs Vernon Budge and son Larry called on friends. Multiple residents attended events in Salt Lake, Boise, Preston, and Montpelier, with various family gatherings noted.
General George C. Marshall says 121 American Red Cross workers including three women are on active duty with troops in Korea. Eight Field Directors attach to combat units, two more en route, three awaiting transport. a quarter million volunteers are already serving at home. The Red Cross provided funds, clothing, communications, and blood supplies as the war began and expanded its presence in the region.
Winter months and over a year of advocacy led Lions Club and residents to raise about 1000 dollars for a playground in Paris. In June the Emerson School lot was plowed and dirt hauled, but no progress since. With school starting in four weeks, children lack play space and existing equipment is dismantled on the lawn.

Dr O Neal Rich and son Johnny of Salt Lake visited relatives here, Rodney Ream and family in Dingle spent July 24 at the Charles Crawford home, and the Doctrine and Covenants study group met at Grant Rich’s. The Poulsen family held their annual reunion at Fish Haven on July 24. Mrs Ernest Bunn and son visited in Georgetown, Grant Grandy spent weekend with his parents, and August Jaussi planned Moscow enrollment. Women and girls signaled for Syracuse canning work via Mrs Angus Porter, and Dr and Mrs R J Evans with two children visited in Logan and Liscombe, while Kay Rich and family returned to Logan for the week.
A Special Sunset Service on Sunday July 30 at 8 p.m. will be held at the Stake Tabernacle in Paris with George Romney of Detroit as guest speaker. President E W Stucks urges Mutual age members and especially the young to attend for Romney's message. Romney, head of the Mormon Branch in Detroit, has held top industry posts and educated at L D S University and Utah. He has served as a tariff specialist and in corporate leadership and represented the U S at international industrial conferences.
Mr David S Fletcher and sons Floyd and LeGrande from Ogden visited daughter Helen Parker. Richard Fletcher and Helen with her young son Floyd joined them returning home. Helen and son will visit for a week. Twila and Ray stay with grandparents George and Mrs Parker. Sewing club hosted a chicken supper at Paris Park for Mrs Faye Stevens and Mrs Edna Bolton with many guests in attendance.
A July 19 gathering at Walter Lewis residence honored Paria 2nd ward widows. Twelve of seventeen attended with musical readings. a joke segment featured Mrs Walter Lewis. Widows drew names for future husbands amid refreshments and a group photo.
The William Shepherd family plans its annual reunion August 4 and 5 at the Fish Haven Resort. A program will be held in the tabernacle in Paris at 8 p.m. Aug. 4. The family dinner and business meeting are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 5, in Paris and St. Charles. Vernon Rich of Boise arrived to visit relatives, with his family returning home this week. Families from Provo, Montpelier, and other nearby towns joined excursions to Ideal Beach. In addition, Lyle Watts and regional foresters visited with Forest Ranger Jay B. Hann. The local literary club met at Mrs. E. H. Crawford’s home with Darlene Booth reviewing Kinfolk by Pearl S. Buck.
Sunday and Monday guests at the Shirley Alten Kear homes included Charles Shirley Charlene and Arvin Rosenoff of Bountiful. Numerous regional visitors from Ogden Logan Baton Rouge and Brigham City were mentioned with extended stays and local events across Fish Haven.
Mrs. Frank Nye travels to Logan to see an ill father while numerous others spend time with relatives in Montpelier Paris Kimberly and Logan. The column lists medical, reunion, hospitality and social visits among residents, plus a note on Bruce Bryner joining Fielding High School staff and a bridge club gathering with refreshments.
Mrs Marie Clark returned home from Layton with grandson Teverance Williamson. Henry Monson spent the weekend in Utah with BH Brown Bus Tom and Terry Daniels visiting Henry Monson's home. Doris Godefrey, Hyrum Nebeker Laketown, Veil Anderson family Garland Utah and Davis Riverside Cal relatives visited St Charles. Darvel Gayla Swenson in Afton Wy. Glayde Mrickson worked at Barfuss Service in Paris. Merrill Pugmire and family in Randolph for weekend.
Funeral services for Joseph J Kunz aged 43 died Saturday at his Montpelier home after a long illness were held Wednesday at 1 pm in the Montpellier ward chapel conducted by Bishop Alvin Tueller. He was born December 6 1809 in Aldatio and was a devout church member active in the Mutual Improvement Association and the Gealogical Society. He married Bethle Poulsend in the Salt Lake Temple July 8 4688 and is survived by his wife a son Larry Kunz his father and many siblings in Montpelier and surrounding areas.
Ovid defeated Georgetown 29 to 5 on Thursday while UPIOT beat Lanark 18 to 8. Friday results include Co op 8 Liberty 6 and Allagers 31 Bloomington 16. Tuesday standings show Co op 10 UPJOT 23 Dingle 5 Legion 6 and Bloomington 15 Lanark 6.
